Ladies and gentlemen...meet Adolph Weinman (my newest drawing).

By far the most artistically inspired drawing I have done, I loved his designs from the beginning and found an awesome photo of him to use in the work. Although the photo is from a later time in his life than when the designs were released, I still think it captures him very well. I hope you like it...

I love all the drawings that you have produced.

<< <i>Did he design both the O and R of both coins? >>
Yes, he did. With a few exceptions the concept of having the obverse and reverse designed by different people is a fairly new occurance. Usually it is a bad idea because of a difference in style on the two sides.
Superb.
Thanks for showing it to us!

He did indeed design the obverse and reverse for both coins imaged.
I am now getting the paper and board ready to draw Hermon MacNeil, designer of my favorite artistic rendering on a coin, the Standing Liberty quarter. Too bad he was a one-hit wonder, I would have liked to have seen more from him.

<< <i>Okay, now it's guys - and ladies. Thanks Amanda. You probably saw me working on this one across from Adrian at the Whitman show. I didn't realize that was you until it was too late. >>
Yeah, I was being shy.
It turned out really well!
You're welcome.

<< <i>Do you have one of Mr. Morgan? >>
I have yet to find a decent representative image of Mr. Morgan so I can draw him accurately. Same goes for Mr. Barber. I would love to be able to draw each of these fellas, but seems there's nothing decent of them in likeness out there.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

<< <i>I've said this before-- I can barely draw a stick figure. Incredible! >>
coppercoins, I see from your Bio page we have similar backgrounds, and I can relate to your 'art teacher' comments.
<< <i>What you see here is one percent technique and 99 percent raw ability with practice. - from website >>
That "one percent" technique is really blended with the 'raw ability', and short of being a pure savant truly does take a lot of "practice".
Also, I really like some of your blending techniques which I can see on some closeups. Very, very well done!!
Another thing folks, the proportion thing on coppercoins drawings is 'savant-like', you either innately understand it or you don't.
P.S. I like them all, but the Longacre really piece transcends time.
I feel sooooooooo connected to AA Weinman now!!

I do see that the practice I have been getting over the past year has improved my ability and can only regret that I didn't give it more of a shake in the 15 years I didn't do any art work.

Abviously cropped from this one. This appears to be a photo of the engravers at the mint so one of them may be Barber as well. Unfortunately the individuals are not identified. The image comes from Stack's though so they might have a better copy and further ID's.
Can't come up with anything on either of the Barbers
