Oh, no. It's much older than that. I think it was struck way back in 1993.
Those half dime replicas were privately made as a promotion for Pleasant Publishing Company, to promote their "Addy's" series of books for young girls. Addy was a fictional slave during the Civil War, featured in the series of books, and she treasured her one possession - an 1864 half dime (actually, who wouldn't! I know I treasure mine).
Those stupid things drove me crazy until I finally researched them and figured it out. I actually have ten of them now.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
