With the 3 piece gold set gone, I would expect more spill over into the 2 piece gold/silver set. I would expect these to sell out pretty quickly too.
And I just happened to go back and order one of the 2-pc sets an hour ago hoping it would fly under the radar while everyone had a canary over the 3-pc Gold and the Silver sets. Guess not....
Rufus T. Firefly: How would you like a job in the mint?
Chicolini: Mint? No, no, I no like a mint. Uh - what other flavor you got?
<< <i>I must have got one of the last ones at 6:30 EDT this morning. I'll go berserk too if they decide to make more. >>
Nice grab! Good job.
I asked a girl there (a supervisor, no less!) this morning if they were planning to make more and she said no. I told her if they did there would be a riot.
I see there is a BIN set on ebay for 3600.00 2006 American Eagle 20TH ANNIVERSARY 3-COIN GOLD Set I am glad I ordered 3 sets a few days ago, wish i had ordered my limit of 10 though seeing as how fast they sold out
Now everyone who bought more than one will end up selling just to find out that everyone interested bought more than one for the same reason. I know this is unlikeley and I hope it is not true as I bought three hoping the other two will pay for the first one.
Well, we'll see if my order went through -- I placed an order for 4 sets at 7:24 AM PST, before they had this disclaimer on their website. Maybe my order was the one that pushed them over the limit?

They justs went on sale yesterday. Were you able to order early from the mint?

I think you'll do just fine and that is a great strategy. Such a quick sell out, there will be plenty of people who missed the boat and will be willing to pay a premium I think.
<< <i>This is so awesome. Score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope everyone bought some. These will be $3-4k within a year. Assuming the market trend continues. >>
Have you ever checked the mintages of proof AGE's? There is a lot of spec on this new issue and I think you'll be disappointed in the long term. >>
If that is true then the short term might be the best time to sell. There may be a decent demand for these right away, then fall off after a short while, so if one is to sell, they might want to consider selling right away. It is good business sense to not sit on stock.
Ten thousand is a low mintage. The fact that these are proof specimens minted at West Point will no doubt keep them in a lofty position for a long time to come.
I just couldn't pull the trigger with my first grandchild on the way... but it's okay I'm rooting for you guys ...
I suspect these proofs will see very nice increases in value in the coming years.
10k sold is HIGH for most years. The 2006 at 10k is not a low mintage issue. The best buy is the ase set. >>
I disagree, most years are in the 25-30K range. You must add in the 4-coin set also. they typically sell 15-20k sets a year. Add that to the 8-10k sales of the one ounce singles and you have a major supply/demand issue with a strict 10K mintage on the 2006 GAE anniversary sets.

This is a good point but remember the UNC wiith the mint mark and the reverse proof is what everyone will be after. On top of this there are thousands of collectors that don't normally buy the proofs that will hold on to this set making additional sets for sale scarce. Ones that get graded by PCGS or NGC will be even more scarce.
I believe you forgot to add in the one ounce coins contained in the 4 coin sets to the total of one ounce coins sold seperately. Most years total production for one ounce proof gold eagles exceed 25K. The 10K production on 2006 reverse proofs is far and away the lowest total production of a one ounce proof gold eagle.
Low mintage with limited distrubtion = high price in the secondary market. Look at the 1999 silver proof sets. Fairly high mintage but the mint limited the amount that an individual could buy. Thus there are few dealers with a large amount of these in inventory. To get one you have to pry it out of the hands of a collector. After the speculators sell of their sets to individuals, the supply of these will shrink dramatically. That is when you will really see the price rise.
Every year, the Mint sold more than 10K of AE Gold Proof 1 oz coin (1oz in single option and 1 oz in 4-coin set option) but I am banking on the bunished uncirculated with mint mark AE gold and reverse proof AE gold of this 20th anniversary 3-coin gold set.
Even though most collectors do not collect proof gold AE by year but many, I believe, would want to keep this particular gold set as a Type Set (AE Gold Proofs & Unc).

I say we doubled our money.
If a 30,000 1995-W can sell for $5K, then 3 oz of Gold, with a melt value of $1900 alone, and 10,000 limit can sell for $5K or more.

I wasn't kidding.
What will be the next to fall and when. I think the 2 pc gold/silver unc set, and with a few days.
The Silver only set will sell out but it'll take at least a week for that.
With the first sell out, people will be clammoring for the next sell out which will only push things further.

Quit trying to rain on our parade.
These coins are a one shot deal.
I can buy a 2004 Proof, 2005, 2003, what's the difference, just the year. They are all the same.
When's the next time you are going to be able to buy a Reverse Proof, or the Unc with the "W" mint mark ????
Hopefully not for another 10 years.
That's the difference. You can't compare Apples to Gold.
<< <i>...you have a major supply/demand issue with a strict 10K mintage on the 2006 GAE anniversary sets. >>
Absolutely - if that wasn't evident by a one day sellout I don't know what is.
