    What great sets! Question. On the $10 Indian set you have 7 MS67s, 5 MS65s, with all else being MS66. How is it that the average grade of the set is listed as less than MS66?

    I believe it all has to do with the WEIGHTING of each date as opposed to a true average grade. For example, the 1933 and Rolled Edge are weighted the most. So a 65 on any highly weighted date will bring the average down.

    The good news is that someday I expect my 1933 to be in a MS66 holder. In fact, I am convinced it will.....

    I looked at the sets this morning and still haven't thought of any appropriate words. Wow.

    Interesting that they weight the coins. Someday I'd like to hear a a reasoning for that protocol - to a non-grading collector it doesn't make sense to weight grades, well, maybe .... I guess I can see that your 1908 MS66 at 25/7 might not carry the weight of your 1911D at MS65 3/0 in terms of scarcity. So, are they really weighting coin pops? If so - they should not call it an average grade, but rather develop a scarcity index. Interesting. I'll have to think more about that. With the '33 having a MS65 pop of 8/0, how can you possibly do better? Are you anticipating that you have the only MS66 in the bunch?

    There was a NGC MS66 which sold not long ago at Stack's which Legend would proclaim to be the finest and which was the Kruthoffer PCGS MS65 coin. The coin fetched $720k at the Stack's sale.

    I haven't tried NGC and won't at this point but I hope that mine will upgrade someday when the stars are aligned properly.

    I do believe that PCGS has a weighting scale which you can view on any registry set. The weight of each date with the grade assigned will give you the set points. I am not really sure of the formula they use for the average grade but it can't be a pure average or the $10 Indians would be over 66. Who knows but it is a good question...

    I believe he has gotten much better on his images. I would like to see more clarity and depth as the images still lack the ability to clearly see ticks and hits clearly. I am certain he will perfect this over time.

    The images are cool to have. I have gotten more comments now that there are actual photos attached to each coin.
