Justgreatcoins seems to use a number of bidders to establish a defacto reserve for their coins. That is 'fee avoidance' according to Ebay --anyway you look at it. Whether it is shilling is up to an individual bidder and Ebay to decide.
I looked at the SIX bidders he uses to establish a min. selling price. It plain looks sleazy. Why a couple of those well known 'bidders' (with a reputation to protect) would want to be involved with this...just stupifies me.
<< <i> My point with all this, while to the inexperienced here it looks shady, there was NO shill bidding or anything devious happening in the RLH auction. >>
Maybe that is the angle on the gosip about the affair between Laura and MadMarty, Russ got pass over by Laura because he was too "inexperienced" for her taste.
As a result of all this forum nonsense, I just took a look at justgreatcoins' auctions and placed a bunch of bids. Guess I'm part of the conspiracy now.

I have seen and reported this practice to Ebay and the use of "angel" bidders to save items from being sold too cheaply.
This is even more insidious as it prevents someone from actually getting a good deal on something. It is pretty obvious when the same "buyer" only buys from one seller and there is no feedback reciprocity.
I didn't even win the item that led to the discovery of a buyer with 20 plus purchases from only 1 seller. I simply wanted to see who had gotten such a good deal when what really happened was a legitamate buyer got taken by a seller who didn't want to see something sold at a 30% discount. I bet that no money ever changed hands on these items, but I couldn't prove it.

there ya go, Andy... didn't you know that is how Braddick gets most of his rarities ?... He waits for the posse to come here screaming about some oddball coin..... then he does a little research and "voila"... he scores. These boards really do expose some treasures out there.
and how does the other saying go ? ....
it doesn't matter if they talk bad or good about ya, ... so long as they talk about ya .... what a magnificent resource for advertising. Thankfully the politicians don't fill the forum with promises to save us money here.
I think the auctions/sellers to be careful of are the ones that have private auctions where you can't see who is bidding or who has won.
At least the activity here is out in the open.
eBay's allowance of private auctions in a way encourages shill bidding and other covert actions (ie shilling, padding other co-conspirators otherwise crappy feedback scores, money laundering ect.)
If I only had a dollar for every VAM I have...err...nevermind...I do!!
