Random Acts of Kindness … Jefferson’s … and Keets

I’ve thought about posting something about this for over a week now. Usually when I do my “random acts of kindness”, I want little or no recognition for my deed. Better to just do something nice and let it be good just as it is.
There are a lot of people on these boards that do wonderful things for people … for people in need of real help to new comers that need help navigating our great hobby. Many of us are blessed with the freedom to even have the opportunity to pursue a hobby such as this one.
Anyway, I’d like to say a special thank you to a member of our boards who sent me a gift … a totally unexpected and wonderful gift.
I asked him for help because I knew he was a specialist in a series I have very little experience in, but wanted to find some examples for a raw set I started. When we discussed some coins and dates, I figured he might offer me a word or two of wisdom, maybe sell me a dupe or two. A week or so went by, and then one day he sent me a note saying he had about a dozen of the dates I was interested in and to shoot him my address.
I have had people send me coins prior to paying for them, although since we didn’t really know each other for more than just a few PM’s, I thought it at least quite gracious. I figured he’d send an invoice or something … or we could work it out after I received.
He was quiet about it all. And after they came, and I tried to pay him, he told me to “just pass it on”.
Now to be honest, I had a hard time with this. It is far easier for me to give than to receive, especially since I don’t need for anything, and I want for little. No, I’m not rich, at least in a material sense … but life is good.
So despite the fact that I think he might choose to remain quiet about it … just as he was through the process … I am going to out him
... just so I can share my thanks here.
Al, you are one of a kind. Thank you again!

“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

Is this the same guy that is seen with a bag over his head or slumped down, with a bring it on look , in the seat of a car ? If so he looks cool and this shows he is cool.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
every treasure on Earth
to be young at heart?
And as rich as you are,
it's much better by far,
to be young at heart!

I got kicked off Noah's Ark
I turn my cheek to unkind remarks
There was two of everything
But one of me
And when the rains came tumbling down
I held my breath and I stood my ground
And I watched that ship go sailing
Out to sea.
Chorus:
Take it back
Take it back
Oh no, you can't say that
All of my friends
Are not dead or in jail
Through rock and through stone
The black wind still moans
Sweet revenge
Sweet revenge
Without fail.
I caught an aisle seat on a plane
And drove an English teacher half insane
Making up jokes about bicycle spokes
And red balloons
So I called up my local deejay
And he didn't have a lot to say
But the radio
Has learned all of my favorite tunes.
Chorus:
The white meat is on the run
And the dark meat is far too done
And the milkman left me a note yesterday
Get out of this town by noon
You're coming on way too soon
And besides that
We never liked you any way.
Chorus:
Al is one of the best. ...And he has great taste in album covers.
In Spite of Ourselves

(sung with Iris DeMent)
She don't like her eggs all runny
She thinks crossin' her legs is funny
She looks down her nose at money
She gets it on like the Easter Bunny
She's my baby I'm her honey
I'm never gonna let her go
He ain't got laid in a month of Sundays
I caught him once and he was sniffin' my undies
He ain't too sharp but he gets things done
Drinks his beer like it's oxygen
He's my baby
And I'm his honey
Never gonna let him go
In spite of ourselves
We'll end up a'sittin' on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, we're the big door prize
We're gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.
She thinks all my jokes are corny
Convict movies make her horny
She likes ketchup on her scrambled eggs
Swears like a sailor when shaves her legs
She takes a lickin'
And keeps on tickin'
I'm never gonna let her go.
He's got more balls than a big brass monkey
He's a whacked out weirdo and a lovebug junkie
Sly as a fox and crazy as a loon
Payday comes and he's howlin' at the moon
He's my baby I don't mean maybe
Never gonna let him go
In spite of ourselves
We'll end up a sittin' on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, we're the big door prize
We're gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.
I guess you can call it good PR!

i know i come across as......................rather gruff at times, that's my ongoing struggle. but in truth, i enjoy trying to help and share when/if i can. i could relate the way i've been the recipient of things like what i did for Todd, but we'd be here for quite a while. the PCGS U.S. Coin Forum members have been most generous on my behalf. the best i can do is to follow the suggestion given to me by forum member Tumuss and another old friend, Jeannette, who recently passed away at the ripe old age of 88------try to do something nice for someone who needs help, without letting anyone know, or expecting anything in return.
in short, Pass It On!!!!!
