it's not often I upgrade the Dansco anymore but I found this coin will replace my current example of the Winged Liberty design:

care hazard your opinion as to the grade?

If you want to give "rattler" grade and grade under current standards that's ok too image

    Was probally in a 66FB holder... looks like a 67FB... no doubt on the FB, that thing is razor sharp image

    I'll agree on the 67 FB. I used to own a PCGS 67 FB that looked like that.

    Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

    A couple of very minor tick marks plus the the hazy toning I see in the word "liberty" and the legend at the top of the reverse say MS-66, FB to me. The strike is all there, but if the haziness I see is real, it's not quite up to the MS-67 level. MS-67 coins need to be really stunners.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals.     Waaaaaait a minute...is that a chunk of metal I see missing on the rim near 12:00 on the reverse? I'll have to rethink my grade. image

    If that's a hit in the rim, I'd say 66FB tops, and 65FB wouldn't shock me.

    I don't think that the coin has rim problems. Those are the prongs that were used on the old PCGS "rattle holders."

    Nor is it 64, while we're at it, if anyone wants to sell me pretty coins like this for MS64 money I'll pay "ask"

    edit: Oh, and I'll add that BillJones is right on, those three rim "dents" are the holder prongs.

    Yes, those are rim prongs, not damage. It's a twin to an old MS-66FB '39-D I once had, but that '39-D was slightly more of a blazer, and should've been a '67. This one I think is in a rattler MS-66FB, however it might've been undergraded as a 65FB.

    I think I am looking at my recient graded dimes and say 64FB
    It looks like a 65FB but can't say pcgs would give the grade

    Edit: I'd resubmit it to get the correct grade.

    Same here. I've seen a 66 look worse than that coin. If you paid 65 money for it, good job!

    I have a 64 in the same type holder that couldn't hold a candle to that coin.
    WTB: Eric Plunk cards, jersey (signed or unsigned), and autographs. Basically anything related to him

    Positive BST: WhiteThunder (x2), Ajaan, onefasttalon, mirabela, Wizard1, cucamongacoin, mccardguy1

    i went 66fb. and it could go 67. i just couldn't go 67fb wihtout seeing it in hand. it looks every bit of 67 from the images though.

    A lot of 67's in the poll. I did not see 67 at all with this coin. I wavered between 64 and 65 and then went 65FB. The coin just has no wow to make 67.

    I would surmise from past opinions of yours that you know a bit more than I do about Mercs, but (to you) there is question whether that coin was Gem or not? And I realize it's just a pic to judge from.
