Does this look real? If so, how much does it go for?

    Looks real to me.

Probably had a cleaning or two many years back, but 99% of them have.

$15 to $20 bucks I'd guess, but it's hard to to really tell by the picture.

I suppose you could dip it(gasp!!)and put it up on sleezebay and probably realize at least $40 or more. Who knows with the bay of E?

The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and it does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose."

Real ? It looks round and has the color of silver. But Nickels were not made in 1831, and if it supposed to be a capped bust quarter, it's missing the 2 and the top arrow (Rev) does not appear to be the same angle in relation to the last A in AMERICA as is shown in the Red Book. My guess it doesn't weigh up either. Probably a fake from Hong Kong. The eagle also looks very disproportionate. Just my opinion, though.

I think it is worth sending to ANA as a counterfiet for study. image You can write it off as a gift (Deed of Gift)

Um, anyone ever heard of a half dime?

Any reason why you would think that it wasn't real? Sure it's real and I seem to like it more than Deadhorse does. I think it is a VF-20, maybe a 25 and if it has been cleaned it was done a LONG time ago and not badly done. (I do think the picture is a little out of focus.) I would be willing to pay more for a coin like that than the $20 that Deadhorse quotes and I've seen a lot worse coins at shows offered for a lot more (Not that they are worth it.) Of course Deadhorse could be quoting from the standpoint of what a dealer would pay, in which case I would probably agree with him.

I think it closer to F15... maybe VF20, but definately not more... I don't have my book with me at the moment, so I can't attribute it at this time... but it looks like LM-1... I'm just not entirely sure... image Anyways, I would probally pay $30-$40 for this coin, maybe more if it was a scarcer marriage that I needed...

The sharpness grade is Fine-12 on the obverse and VF on the reverse, but that's not unusual for coins of this era and before. Given the cleaning I'd net it down to VG. The surfaces really are a mess.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

This is not my coin. I am surprised that there are so many different opinions on this half dime.
