THE FAMOUS (or INfamous) "COIN UNO" GAME THREAD

This game works sort of like the "UNO" or "Crazy Eights" card games do, but only on a very basic level. (For one thing, it never ends, haha.)
HOW TO PLAY:
1. If the last coin posted was a regular-issue U.S. coin, you have to post a coin of the same date OR the same type (NOT just the same denomination).
Note: Commemoratives, Hard Times and Civil War Tokens, or patterns can be considered all one "type". So if the last person posted a 1920 Pilgrim half dollar, for example, you may play any US commemorative coin OR anything dated 1920. Likewise, an 1863 Civil War token could be followed by any other Civil War token or any coin at all dated 1863.
2. If the last coin posted was a World coin, you have to post a coin of the same date OR from the same country. Type or denomination do not matter in this case. If you post a non-US coin, though, be sure to type in the country, since the next player might not be familiar with it, and will need to know where to play from. Whatever you post must be a dated coin, though.
Note: Dual-dated coins (like Bicentennial issues, for example) are sort of "wild cards" for the next player. For example, if I post a "1776-1976" Bicentennial quarter, the next person has three options: he or she may post a Washington quarter OR a 1976-dated coin OR a 1776-dated coin.
Get it? It isn't as hard as it sounds.
Here, I'll start, with an 1842 Seated Liberty half dime.

So the next person has to either post a coin dated 1842, or a Seated Liberty half dime - not just any type of half dime.
Get it? Let's go!
January 2026 edit: Had to completely rework this original post, more than 20 years after the thread began, since the original pics had gone bad and the formatting got wonky after the 2016 software change. Figured I'd add a fun AI-generated banner image while I was at it.

Baised on the starting coin this will be a short thread.
2016 Update:
Based on more 3,800 posts over almost 11 years, you're starting to look a bit more like Nostradoofus than Nostradamus.
(Sorry, couldn't resist that cheap shot.)

It is something from 1819 or a Coronet cent.
Edit- aha! Mike got it, finally!
So your $3 post should be switched to match something from 1821 or a Coronet cent, relayer!

Baley had it right when he posted an 1837 half behind DUIguy's 1837 half dime, but my post snuck in a few seconds earlier and threw his off track.

Surely somebody has a nice 1818... half dollar...? Or something.
(BTW, if we get any Darkside stuff it is date or country... so if a sneaky Darksider snuck in an 1818 French coin, for example, it would be anything from 1818 or anything French, not necessarily of the same type or denomination...)

"In Coin Uno, you have to follow with a coin of either the same date or the same type"
Dude, reread the rules in the LordM's first post.
<< <i>For those of you who've never played either card game, it's pretty basic. You have to follow somebody's card with the same number, or the same suit (or in Uno, the same color >>
OK...here's LordM's qoute in the first post.
Crazy 8's follows numbers and suit and UNO follows color and numbers.
In coin UNO you follow Type(suit) or Date(number).
DNADave is correct.
PURPLE!
I assume we are following the half dollar.
