Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
  • OK! Now everyone should go to Selsatan's thread on "How to make a love token, where do I start?" Or is that a different topic?image

Take it to the bourse floor.
  • For some reason my original post isn't showing up here. Okay, got a special girl and I want to give her a love token (I can't think of a better, more personal gift). I have some silver Washingtons that I can sacrifice and a good rotary tool, but I was wondering if anybody knew of any good techniques or resources to get me started. How 'bout it?

    1) Make sure there are no laws in your state prohibiting the act of making love to an inanimate object.
There used to be laws prohibiting activities like slurping one's soup in some states, so you need to check this out.

    2) If it's a token, I don't think you need to concern yourself with statutory rape laws, but make sure the token is at least eighteen years old.

    3) Depending on your sexual preference, you should try to ascertain whether the token is male or female, to avoid a potentially embarassing situation.

    4) Lastly, it all depends on what you have in mind. What sort of 'relationship' do you want to have with this token?

I'll leave the rest to the imagination of the people who read this.
    "Vou invadir o Nordeste,
    "Seu cabra da peste,
    "Sou Mangueira......."

  • They make rings that you can put a gold eagle in. If it is going to be a really special gift, perhaps use the ring and gold eagle 1/10 oz.

Whatever coin you use, grind one side off. If you have an engraving tool and know how to use it, great. Otherwise, take the coin with the side ground off to a jewler or a carnival where they engrave stuff and have them put a nice initial or two on it. I suggest bring an actual love token or smoe pictures to give the engraver an idea. Should cost very little.

If you are using washington Qs, grind a few to make sure you get a nice token even if the engraver botches the first try.

I would rather use a dateless Standing Q or maybe a Barber Q before a washington. Better looking, IMHO.

Also, I have seen far more dimes, particulary seated, made into love token pendants than any other denomination. Maybe the lesser weight makes a better choice for pendants?

If she is going to wear it, small is good. A quarter will hurt if it bounces around on a chain and hits the collarbone. Seriously.
