A giveaway in honor of Frank and my 4000th post (The winner is RickMilauskas)

All YNs and YNs at heart may enter. There is one catch though. For every post you make you must also add a pic of a MS Franklin Half since that is what Frank collected. None of them there proofs allowed. Pics off eBay or any other source are fine. I will draw a name Monday night sometime and PM the winner.image

The prize will be a grab bag of whatever I find laying around which will probably include a CC Morgan, some darkside and whatever else I can scrounge up. image

Post away!!!!image

Tonight I'll be drinking a toast to Frank and another friend who passed away today after suffering a brain aneurysm this past Wednesday.

Frank was helping me locate the tough to find nicely toned coins of 1955. He didn't find this one but he indeed liked it.
Here's thinking of you Frank..... I'm not entering any contest. Just posting in honor of my "Modern" friend.image

Back in 1992 while in Basic Training we were fortunate enough to have this guy PVT Jones in our Platoon. He was the one that helped everyone, listened to all our problems and just basically made the training easier. For seven weeks he was there for us all, not a complaint, not an argument, kind of like a big brother to us all. Then tragedy struck, during the final Physical Training test (The Run) he became disorientated, he stumbled a bit at which time I grabbed his arm and helped him along...he made only a few more steps with my help then collapsed. I thought it was normal, often the men think they are to tired to push on and they fall to the ground as a last effort to relax... PVT Jones died shortly after on the way to the hospital, he suffocated from his extremities into his heart then his system gave up. In the end we found he had sickle cell anemia.

Frank was much the same way, never a complaint, never an argument, always willing to help anyone when needed. I don't understand why the good guys must pass and the rest of us continue on. At that time, I was willing to trade positions with PVT Jones, if only there had been a way.

For Frank the least I can do is post a Franklin in his honor, with that I submit the following gem.

I'm not entering the giveaway, but here is a description (in Frank's honor) and images of a Franklin Half Dollar I added to my website recently:

1953 Franklin Half Dollar NGC MS66
I believe that this is the first Franklin Half dollar I have handled in over a year. I made an exception because of its splendid multicolored obverse toning and, more importantly, because a very special friend of mine who had an affinity for "Frankie's", died last week, and I thought about him as soon as I saw this coin.
