Cleaned???

I would like to know if this double eagle has been cleaned. I see hairlines on it and I wanted an opinion to know if this coin is gradeable or not? Thanks!

Why did you create an ebay auction to ask this question?

    Odd, eh?

After further review, the luster doesn't look right to my eyes. From the pic it looks like you had one light source below the coin and this should show some cartwheel luster. Someone'll be along shortly with a more definitive answer...Mike

I find it very unethical for you to cancel my bid without proper warning in the auction in the first place. image

i don't think it's cleaned, just has a bunch of incidental hairlines.

contrary to some paranoid beliefs, "hairlines" does not automatically equal "cleaned".

    i'll guess ms-60!

$14 total for Registered isn't horrible.

I see a couple of scratches that are much heavier than hairline scratches. Body bag is probable.

Holy Carp! I cannot believe you would abuse eBay just to post some pictures! You could just have easily asked for some help on these forums on how to post those pictures without doing what you did. Bad move.

Wow that auction is doing great--let me see if I can find some coins that I need opinions on image
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

HAHAHAHA....what a bunch of terds you guys are!! (all of you who insist on the poster selling the coin......). While it certainly would have been easier to just post a picture here, or use one of the free internet sites to store the picture, if his intent was really just to get people's opinion, you all ought to give the guy a break!!

On the other hand.......have any of you seen the REVERSE of this coin??? I didn't see it posted on the "auction"..........for all of you who are so insistent on trying to take advantage of what may be an honest moment of stupidity, I hope the reverse is REALLY trashed!!!! Then again, maybe that was the poster's intent in the beginning!!!

I took the coin down and I found a pawn shop that sold coins to ask for an opinion. He said definately gradeable probably MS61 or MS 62 so I'll send it in and see what happens. Thanks to all that helped.

And is there anybody who can tell me the easiest way to post pictures?
