    It could go F-15 but I could also see the services going VF20.

    Possibly F12. Tough to make VF20. You need a lot of luck if you choose PCGS or ANACS.

    F15/F20... could go either way. Best of luck.

    I don't see much difference if it goes F-15 or VF-20, so why stiffed? The value at these levels is in whether it's nice and original, or eye appealing. BTW, quick tip---if the wings on the eagle still have definition you can say VF (I don't see reverse image).

    Now I do, Rev. looks VF-25 with a weak obverse strike---what's the worry? I think it's a very nice example and a hard date!

    Coin shop dealer had it graded VF-20 and priced $80. That's coin values price for a 20. Couldn't find much of anything wrong with the coin and I liked it. So I gave it a home.

    According to Q. David Bowers, "Most 1904-S dollars are lightly struck, especially at the center of the obverse."

    I think your coin has good eye appeal and should go vf20. At $80 you can't go wrong.

    Yes and no. The coin may not technically grade VF, but it's not unheard of to pay VF money for a nice, problem-free F-15 coin with terrific eye appeal for the grade. Of course this coin's book value doubles from F-12 to VF-20, but still...whether or not this is worth VF money I'm not sure, but it certainly does look like it's worth a premium over the typical Fine '04-S Morgan.

    This may not be a valid comparison, but I thought this coin would grade F15. It only made ANACS F12. Your coin shows more detail and I would think grades at least F15 with a shot at 20

    I think your coin is right in there @ VF20 with either PCGS or NGC. I love it. It has just the look I go for.

    I like the original look of the coin... for this date, that is worth something. Is it a VF20? It could be, but it really doesn't matter if it is housed in an Album and offers those that look it enjoyment.

    I took a hard look at a few of my PCGS F-15s. It is slightly better than my F-15s. Additionally, the coin is nice looking. I think it will go VF-20.

    If you're lucky it might go VF, but I would grade it F15.

    P.S. That 1889-CC is exactly a F12.

    F15 at best.
    Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

    technically that coin is a lock VF20 at pcgs. However, as the coin appears washed they may bump it down to F15.
