<< <i>1812 U.S. CAPPED BUST HALF DOLLAR CERTIFIED BY ACG AU50. Third party grading services are not to be considered a guarantee of grade or value. Bid accordingly. >>
Truer words were never written.
Why do you say this? Is your problem with the coin? Or the holder?
Considering the coin is 193 years old I'd be more suprised if it wasn't toned. Unfortunate that it's not "WOW!!!!!!!!!!RAINBOW HUED!!!!!!!!LOOK!!!!!!!!!" but not a bad coin.
Kelerag, based on the Red Book pictures I'd say it was a small 8.
I've bought from this site before. I've won some great stuff, and I got stuck with mis-represented dogs. Guess which one this coin is.
The slab disclaimer had to be on this auction because they don't want you to be able to return it.

Who knows, the pictures could well make the coin look worse than it is. For this auction the holder makes this lot worth less than if it were raw.
the holder only hurts the coin.
rather see it in an anacs holder with a closer-to-true assessment of grade.
<< <i>"Did you hear about the coin doctor who was too cheap to buy a blowtorch? He used a candle instead." >>
That's about right in this case.
<< <i>I can't believe anyone would think that's what an original bust half should look like. Appears to be AT to me, and probably to cover up problems. >>
Indubidably.

<< <i>Before I'd agree with the POS comment I'd like to see the coin in hand--at EF35 its not bad--not sure from the pics that its been harshly cleaned (my computer lacks a bit in clarity) starting bid is $1 I believe--I'll give him $50. >>
I'd give them $50 in a heartbeat. It's currently at $245.00 which is about $40 more than EF bid I believe (by memory) anyway, what I'm saying is by the time it closes it'll be near the $500 AU bid, which is a royal crime for this POS!
