... after lunch, I stopped in a local antique shop. They had a few Morgans in a case and I asked to see them. Well, the owner said that he had hundreds of them in the back and asked me if I wanted to look at them. Of course, I jumped at the chance and went through bags and bags of coins, rolls of morgans, peace dollars, franklins, liberty quarters, mercury dimes, indian pennies ... thousands of them. Unfortunately, I had no idea what I was looking for so all that I bought were two PCGS slabbed MS64 common dates that he asked $10 a piece for. I am positive that someone with a Cherry Pickers book would have had a field day in there. I am going to do some research and head back later in the week ... hopefully to find some treasures :-)
Off topic: I had an even better find yesterday. A 5 foot tall 200 pound minke whale skull washed up on the beach in front of my house yesterday. I dragged it through the sand and burried it under my house. I called the local natural history museum and they are going to mount it and put it on display with a plack attributing the donation to my family. Kind of cool :-)

Seriously, now I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight. That's a collector's dream right there. PCGS slabbed 64 whats? Are the raw coins uncirculated? Tell us more. Did you say you are still pretty new to coins?
Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
<< <i>Here is a pic of the whale skull ... it is 5 feet long.
Man that thing looks like it stinks !I can almost smell it from here.
Look for Morgans 1893 through 1895.
Where do you live?
I may come and join you.
Jon, you're quick!!
Make that 110% profit and send them all to me
Way kewl on the whale skull !!!!!
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

Lol ... actually, since it is an endangered species, the museum is having the National Fisheries department issue me a permit to possess it. Otherwise, as with bald eagle feathers, it would be illegal.
Yes the antique shop is in Santa Barbara.
