I had heard rumours that if you show up at their door with 10 coins for the 1 day walk through, you could get a quickie tour of the facility.

......what grades did you get ???

I had replied to it, but don't remember it at all. It does explain why verification takes so long.

I was glad that primates are being used to verity the final grade.

I was afraid that chickens were being used.image

Here's an update regarding the "finalizers" since this thread was originally started:

Due to ever-increasing demand/volume of submissions, the primates, "er-final graders" @ the SAN Zoo couldn't keep up, resulting in unacceptable turnaround time for grading. So, a new group of final graders-primates from the SAN Wild Animal Park were pressed into service. The final graders especially enjoy grading the new Wisconson State Quarters because they think the ear of corn is a banana! image

  • We then proceeded to the sealing room, right before we entered there was a hole in the wall, I asked what that was for. It was explained that if your order had a red X placed on it from shipping your best coin was inserted here for fingerprinting!

? does this mean fingerprints applied to the coins?

    Class...class....class... SHUT UP...thank you.

(Old man) Look I had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was, “That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah”.

(Priest) BLASPHEMY he said it again, did you hear him?
  • I remember this from the 1st time around. Nice flashback.

  • Well worth the 5 seconds of reading- but I am to understand that the moderns are now in 3 second mode and are coming out as ms64's- becuz PCGS is now selling on SAHTV! all the 69's go to them...

    A classic!!
  • Actually Mad Marty did a Mission Impossible entry. It was midnight and the security guards at Pgcs were asleep. Marty parachuted from a helicopter onto the roof of pgcs. He entered through the skylight (imagine that music dump dump dump- dome). He cuts a big-big-big-BIG hole in the skylight, and drops down 6 inches from the touch sensitive floor. He lets one of his ferrets run between the laser beams and shut off the security controls. O.K. NOW I NEED HELP FROM YOU GUS AND GIRLS OUT THERE.

P.S. What next - "whitening" those slightly off-white silver coins while I am there as well? >>>

Don't laugh, I've heard that some of the 'better' coin doctors have already experimented with teeth whitining laser equipment to alter the luster on silver coins.
  • For smoe reason I knew PCGS would be like that.

    MadMarty!!! DAMMIT BOY!!! image
