...would i be right in thinking this is the best coin forum on the whole internet?

Everyone gets on, it's like an extended family, the posts are varied and interesting and we have good fun and learn much from each other. And the giveaways! Who could forget the giveaways?

Anyone care to join me in raising a glass to THE ultimate Darkside forum?!

To many more years of knowledge and numismatics!

I just love this place ... such an incredible variety of coins, medals and tokens. The people here are friendly, helpful and supportive. I doubt one could find a better group of people anywhere.

I've investigated other forums and I have to say that the format that PCGS has evolved is superior to any other coin forum website. It makes sense to me visually (immediately) and operates in a way that enables forum members. Other websites can be cumbersome to use, not immediately evident (visually) in terms of operation or function.

That is not the reason this website is the best in the business however; the forum members (if I had to list every member I have enjoyed or who I think is superior in his field I could go on forever) are what make this site the best. Canny personalities, close relationships (other than forum related), photographic skills, numismatic expertise, a willingness to share time (very important), a willingness to educate, not just in a sentence but over a long period of time: involving more than simply posting information or images, are all reasons (and others I don't mention-well, here's one: great place to buy high quality coins from other members at fair prices and not be cheated by e-bay sellers) the PCGS site is superior to all the others.

PCGS, by and large, maintains a hands-off attitude which I appreciate greatly.

I've been a member for about 2 years and I can't remember a time when I have not been greatly pleased with everything I've experienced.

Sylvestius, you have been a positive influence on this forum (despite your predilection for white coins, oil slick comment, you know

)and I enjoy your participation.

I agree, the layout is user friendly, but it is the people that make the whole thing a pleasurable experience. Going a step farther, the Dark-side is where I feel most at home. Also it has been extremely interesting to see how many Lite-side members have drifted towards the Dark in the last year or so.

I've said plenty of times before, and I'll say it again. This place rocks!! It's most certainly the best coin forum I've ever seen, and undoubtedly because of all the great people here.

Nice to finally land on a forum where i feel at home and at ease. I've been around on a few of the forums available and to be honest none come close to this. I think i've found the one i'm sticking with.

Another interesting factor here ... When posting pics of coins, you get a LOT of supportive feedback from members here. I've posted pics of some of my coins on other forums, and get very few comments at all. It's nice to know that others are enjoying my collection as much as I am.

You guys are the only people that ever get to see my coin collection, the family thinks i just collect you know foreign coins like the kind that turn up in circulation ever now and again, 1971 Jersey pennies in F and maybe a 1984 Lincoln cent or two. And i certainly like to keep it that way!

None of my friends know about my hobby either, i've kept it well hidden, cos you never know who they're gonna accidentally mention it to.

So if you ever wondered why i went to great lengths to post pictures of most coins i buy it's because i want to share them with someone!

I have been lurking on other forums and have found this to be the best one around by far.

I have learned a lot about coins from other countries, even a thing or two about British coins.

I have to agree with you all. I lurk on some other boards in most I'm too afraid to venture an opinion (much less post a less than perfect coin!).

Here's to many more years of fabulous treasures at rock bottom prices, and friends to share them with!

I stumbled into the Darkside Forum after the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre on the Lightside Forum a couple of years ago and have been here ever since. My only regret is that the coin business I run keeps me so busy I don't have the time to spend in here that I used to have. But it is an invaluable resource, and I cherish all the friendships I have formed in the Dark

There's no other forum as interesting as the Darkside. It's kept me coming back since April, 2001. It's heartwarming to meet all the friendly, knowledgeable members here,
and see the coin photos, grades, etc. I don't post as often as I'd like, but my enjoyment of this forum and its people hasn't diminished at all...in fact, it keeps growing.

I'm glad I found this place. I was getting tired of the meat market that had become US coin collecting. The coins presented here, from a $1 coin to a $1000 coin get appreciated for what they are, beautiful pieces of art and history. Also, the people here are warm and welcoming. I hope to be hanging here for a long time. I have much to learn and I could not have found a better forum. Thanks to everybody.

From a strictly "collectors point of view" you are 100% correct!

I still flinch when emphasis is placed on very common world coins in high grades though, as if MS 66 or MS65 is the be-all and end-all of coin collecting.

It's just one aspect of the hobby and it cannot be ignored, not more or less than various esoteric themes that are in the other end of it. To me , the temporary hunt for a few inexpensive world gems ,their certification and finally their resale on ebay, is a very entertaining and educational passtime, especially at times when availability of coins for my main collection is small or inexistant, or when my own funds are insufficient. It allows me to temporarily handle a few nice coins at a time when I would otherwise have been an inactive buyer,a numismatic game made possible because of slabs and ebay.

I had to have my arm twisted to get me to join, when I did I posted 10 times that first evening and then went Yeti for several months. When I came back I got hooked very fast and have never even thought about going Yeti again. There is a lot of great info to be found here, but the thing that makes this palce so special is the people.

User Friendly and more importantly Friendly Users.

I have learned more and seen more here than I ever exprienced from my coin flyers, books, and numismatic papers. The photography is simply killer and many of the posters here are artists in their own right. I have yet to get my own pictures up but I will eventually. I do look at other sites and this one is by far the best of all of them.

The Darkside Rocks!
