Looks like an MS64ish piece - Look at the weak hand - almost not even struck in the middle - otherwise it looks OK - I don't know what MS64 prices are on these, but that's as high as I would've ventured.

The coin is AU. You got stiffed™.

Of course any coin in a PCGS or NGC holder will bring more than NTC money. Bidding NTC is IDENTICAL to bidding raw. No difference.
It looks like at least a 64 coin. Could be hairlined though. You'll find out soon enough. You've got more nadz than most of us.

You got stiffed™ though you did not overpay by much for an MS-64.

Looks like a good LWH to me, but not MS66. It has an obvious fingerprint on the obverse and is not a real strong strike. Overall if you could get it to cross at MS65 great, MS64 not so great.

a brutal photograph if you are trying to figure out whether the coin is 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. As I see the eagles claw-it looks a little soft. tough to call the feathers. D is soft. skirt lines are not clear.

    I purchased a coin from this seller.ONCE

Definate weak strike......Hand, head skirt lines up the leg, plus finger prints in the right field.....Reverse also appears to be weakly struck...second row of feathers on the left wing really weak. If when holding in hand there's no break in the luster, judging from the walkers I have in PCGS holders, I would go 43 max.......either way, hope your happy with it.....Rick

  • I went through all of the walkers that seller has for sale and the reverses are really suspect.... at least the pictures are. I don't like the coloring on any of them either.

Here's the reverse of my '45D(PCGS MS66) compared to that NTC one. It's late and hard to get some good lighting, but you can see the detail differences.

  • The 45 d is normally well struck.

i think the coin is MS and you didnt overpay.

I looked at thousands of Walkers in the 80's.it aint a 66,but a shot 65 from the PIX.

If your happy with the coin, don't worry about the price. If you plan on reselling it, then that's another story.

The coin is MS and at least a 64, unless the photo is not showing something only visible coin in hand.

  • I am getting alot of questionable answers from thisn sale. I bid on it and then forgot about it. never expected to win. I think I will email and see if he will offer it to the next bidder and let me out of it. This was my screw up not his. Maybe he will do me a favor and let me out of it

It has an obvious fingerprint on the obverse

Which has very little to do with the final grade unless it's dark and distracting.

How many times do you guys have to be told? Buy only PCGS,NGC,ANACS,PCGS,NGC,ANACS...............on eBay. You can also at times find real bargins on ICG coins. Of the few ICG Morgans I have bought all have crossed in grade to PCGS.

  • There are hundreds of these out there, I wouldn't even pay 64 money for it....the hand should at least be fully defined for a 65 or better.

I hate to say it, but before I even looked at the coin, I was 99% sure that my answer would be "YES".

And I was right. Sorry about that.

Why should the seller offer it to the next bidder? You bid and won, and should honor your end of the deal- if buying an ntc coin makes you that nervous, then don't bid on ntc coins anymore....

Once burned is a lesson, twice burned........well you know the saying.

I might suggest you read a good book on walkers if that is your series of choice. Unfortunately I don't collect the series so I can't recommend one to you. Then go to the Heritage web site and search the auction archives and look at as many walkers as you can. Then get to a coin show and study as many pcgs, ngc, and anacs as you can. The only way to learn is to know what to look for and look at as many as possible. Until you can properly grade the series stay the heck away from all lower tier grading companies.

I don't know much about walkers but even with my limited knowledge on the subject I can see you bought a less than gem (gem = MS65) with a weak strike. I fear I even see some rub bringing it to AU. Now its not the end of the world though. It is a cheap lesson, but without following the steps I outlined above the lessons can become very costly very fast. I speak for everyone on the forum when I say we have paid for our education and it is our sincere desire here to minimizing education expenses for all new collectors that join us here. However, there is no magic wand. You have to do the work to learn your series, otherwise you will become shark bait. If you choose not to invest the time to learn then please minimize your risk by sticking to PCGS, NGC, and Anacs (and for cammy ICG non moderns). However, buying coins in these slabs can still be a mine field, but it is better than any other option.

I know you have heard this before, but maybe it hasn't sunk in yet so let me repeat it.....Buy the book before the coin.

I bought a nice Peace dollar from the bay.....thought it was cheap enough for an NTC and little down side. Slab said MS 64.......turns out it was a hairlined pig 60/61 at best. Photo's can hide lots. Bid as if raw is good advice for NewMistrust slabbed circular metalic objects.

I've bought three NTC slabbed coins off eBay on three different occasions and all three have been considerably overgraded and/or problem coins. I'm not saying I would never buy an NTC slabbed coin again but I certainly would not do it unless I can see it in person. If this coin could make it to a PCGS holder, I would be a betting man that it would be more than a few points off of the MS66 grade NTC has on it.

Yes, you paid something like $25 to $30 too much for this coin on a retail basis.

I see fingerprints in the right obverse field, which would cut it down to no better than MS-63 IMO if that. This is one of the most “third world” of the “third world” slabs. With these slabs you grade the coin yourself and than pay no more than what you think the grade is. The grade on the slab is irrelevant.
