**** OFFICIAL 2005 TOPPS HERITAGE BOX BREAK THREAD ****

Tuesday 4:28 pm EST.

Just returned home with 3 hobby boxes. $65 each (including tax..out the door).

A couple of notes first before I list the breaks:

1.) I thought there were going to be box toppers....guess not. I thought I read there were going to be pennants.

2.) There are no gray/white back variations...all the cards are gray backs

3.) You can definitely notice when you get a pack with a checklist (thicker card..dummy for a GU) or a Game Used card itself. Just keep that in mind if you are buying from boxes already opened. If you are going for SPs then it really doesn't matter as the probability is greater in those non-game used or checklist packs of landing a SP or regular Insert.

4.) The Team cards were always the last card in the pack.

5.) The SP, Chrome, GU, etc. were always the 2nd to last card in the pack.

    Couple of questions.

    1. How does this year's break compare to last year's?

    2. Folks on another board are upset they didn't get the felt pennants in their boxes. Probably because they figured they could sell them and help defray the cost of the box. Does that bother anyone?

    3. Some folks are getting cards with different card stock. Light and dark backs, like they were in 1956. Is anybody finding that true?

    Thanks

    1. Its too early to tell
2, Yes, very much, my box UPC's will be going back to topps for replacments
    3. There has been in the past some shade difference but nothing planned by topps.

    Do you sell on ebay?
That Bonds goes up now...my guess it will grab some nice coin!
    What do you think?

I like the fact that the collation is good! The number of THC's to refractors seems similar to last year along with the inserts.

Is anyone leaving anything to open on a group rip? Now "kids" we were supposed to play fair. image

    Seriously, great stuff
will somebody pull an auto please?

Its up right now, LMK what you think of the BIN, a regular chrome is already up over 6 bucks. I don't want to get greedy here just
make a bit of money back. I like very much the number of rookies in this product!

Please someone come and take these things out of my hands!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Ill save a box if I have to bury it!

Did I mention NO DOUBLES in two boxes!!!!!

<< <i>3. Some folks are getting cards with different card stock. Light and dark backs, like they were in 1956. Is anybody finding that true? >>

That is not true. They are all gray. There is a distict difference in the original 1956 set. The backs where white and gray. You would be able to tell the difference.

Sucks about the pennents...where they one per case maybe?

    BasiloneBasilone Posts: 2,492 ✭✭

I think the bonds may sell BIN...Im thinking about buying it....

I can see it selling around $30. Maybe someone will bust BIN and it will go higher than $25.00.

The breaks are pretty much the same. It comes down to getting lucky and getting boxes that have different SPs, base cards, etc.

I can forsee boxes getting the same runs of SPs in them.

As I said before, I'm disappointed in the autos, hell I never pull anything good anyway...but this is still a great set and the cards are fantastic!

I will probably get my boxes tomorrow - the collating and judging of the cards for my set is what gets me excited.

And I know, once we get over the initial shock, it's back to the business of Heritage!

I will put a letter together after everyone has their set in binders - and just wait till you see how it looks in a Roop!!!

Good luck for those still opening and to those waiting like me...see ya tomorrow!

    Go Topps!!!

overall, i'm pretty happy with what i have broken so far. i'm not a big fan of the 56 set but i have to say these cards are awesome. the auto was a disappointing, but since i love the grandstand glory/seat cards so much i'm very happy with the aaron and feller.
i'm still perplexed about the gray /white back issue. i pulled a johan santana identical fronts one back dark grey one much lighter.

So far have opened a dozen packs and the gum is pretty good. Using the rule that I'll
only keep a piece of gum in my mouth as long as it takes to go thru the pack and put each
card in a pennysleeve ...or better. Or maybe I should save some of the gum and sell it
to boyerendeavors to include in some of his packs.

Out of 3 boxes I pulled a total of 6 cards with a "light" back. They all came out of the same pack. I'm thinking it is just a mechanical error due to the fact they came out of only 1 out of the 72 packs I busted.

    They are:

    #244 Chris Carpenter
    #274 Brandon Webb

I have to believe the white backs are not intentional and are the result your cards and mine being printed at different times. It makes no sense from an parallel standpoint for you to get 100 cards out of 7 boxes and for me to get 6 cards out of 3 boxes.

Then again...I pulled 2 Game Used out of 1 box.

This product is so freaking screwy this year.
  • Options
john- you could be right, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the cards with white backs.

mike- i'm not sure if the chavez in the pic is the sp, i have about 4 of them but only 1 with him in an old k.c. a's cap. same goes for beltran i have 6 of him catching but only 1 swinging.the blalock sp has got to be the one throwing because i have 8 swinging , none throwing. i pulled only 2 arods , 1 fielding 1 hitting , not sure which one is the sp.

thanks for posting the list it's alot better than what i was workng with.

How many boxes are people saving for the live rip? I have two coming from Kuhlmann on Saturday, and 3 more coming tomorrow or Friday. I realize that some are down on Topps, but this should still be fun.

I am not a collector of autos or gameused, so if I get any I will be looking to deal for the missing SPs to work toward completing my set. Obviously if Mr. Aaron is hiding in one of the packs, then I may have to reconsider. But like Stone, I don't have that kind of good fortune, so I am sure I will be auto free.

oh yeah, now this is what heritage is about! Live rips, odd pulls, and speculation!!!!

I would love to see a side by side scan of the back variations! Wether this is intentional or not this could spur an entirely new
part of the set! Just when you thought the master set was looking easy. BAM white backs at some insane odds! dang I didn't have
any in my rips. Cmon Chris throw me a Bonds white back Saturday!! LOL

Im thinking one box each on the live rip, which is now looking like it will take place early next week. Im going to need a straight jacket
in order to keep me from only busting one of the Kuhlmann boxes. Heck maybe we can do live rip Saturday and then again later.

So you think I could of gotten more for the Bonds..oh well, so far I have recouped 54 dollars (two auctions still going) from my 130 investment and I
haven't sold any sp's. You can only do that with heritage!

Lets see some pictures on those white backs!

Hi everyone. I just finished ripping through a box of Heritage. Here are the results:

    12 Short Prints

    3 Then and Now

    2 Flashbacks

    1 NAP

    Luis Ramirez Chrome 0253/1956
    Lance Berkman Chrome 0886/1956

    Shingo Takatsu Chome Refractor 161/556

David Wright Black Chrome Refractor 54/56

Overall, I had fun ripping through the packs. . . The gum tasted GREAT!

I have a question about the soriano sp (#3). I have both variations (running and throwing). Which is the sp?
