Is it just me, or is there a lot more rude, self centered people on the Boards than there used to be

In the past when you helped find someone a coin, helped them with a question or did a favor they would at least give you a PM or thumbs-up. Also it seems like some just log on to make intimidating posts for no reason whatsoever. Lots of "Road Rage" lately and bad manners, I hope it changes

I have a new rule for myself. Never post more than one rude comment per day

Being still relativly new to the forum even after a year......its hard to contribute......but I try when a question comes up an have a small clue of the answer

<< <i>That's the charm, beauty and reason for the Internet...to allow you to meet all the buttheads in the world that you don't get to meet in person. >>
A number of people seek attention here to make up for voids in their personal life.
But none of the buttheads can agree on who should be their king.

We should be able to use this forum for educational purposes and to protect each other from unsavory characters who might try to scam us, but we need to be careful not to accuse anyone unjustly. While we should all be cautious with our money, some of us seem to be a bit overly suspicious IMO. (I always wanted to use that! -IMO that is)

Sometimes folks on here don't want to hear honest opinions and want a nice response (suck-up
comes to mind.)
I for one am not so great with a keyboard to articulate a well written response or debate.
In person though.... I can tell someone where to stick it and they don't even know they've been
told so. On a keyboard I just tell them to stick it. Much easier and faster, as well as to the point.
It's just you, fool. Shove it. Now, let's get back to talking about my coins...

There are some exhibitionist types who need to show us every coin they buy or grade they receive, but they mean well and are basically harmless.
And even though some dealers get flamed here, even the awnry ones are good to have around as they add a professional perspective.

Edited to Add: I also agree with what Stman said. Some folks are easily offended when an honest opinion is given and it is not what they were hoping to hear.

a general "tone" to the board which changes. It seems as though most people are
trying to be polite and most are succeeding in recent months. Even when there is a
fairly rude post, it often appears that the poster was attempting more to be blunt and
honest than rude.
In any case there are still lots of great threads and some OT just as always. I really
don't have a problem with OT and on rare occasion will even post OT or to such threads.
I usually avoid posting OT in good threads even to thank someone for information or
explanations. Perhaps I need to get in the habit of sending more PM's for such occasions.
<< <i>As far as I can tell there are only two or three really nasty people who post here consistently. A couple insist on fighting with everyone and a couple are just arrogant and snide. None are people with any standing in the coin world.

And then there are those who have to trash every coin posted here.
