Got this 1921 Morgan from one of those "Lot Sales" on ebay. This is my first coin to go to PCGS for Grading. Got it for a buck and think it's 63 maybe 64?
Not bad at all, If I say. But the Eagle looks like his chest has some wear, but maybe that is a weak strike or old worn down die. The suspense builds as to what PCGS grades it as. . .
If it comes back AU50 I'm ok with that. I don't have high expectations for this coin. Who knows what the value of this coin will be in 10, 20, or 50 years. I sure don't. I'm not some big high dollar collector like some here. I'm starting out small as alot of us do and as my skills in grading get better I hope to be like others here and "Cherrypick". But all that's way down the road. Thanks, Lee
Congadulations on the great grade and an attractive coin. Everyone is worried about the ecomonics here, but I think you are smart to start off with the more inexpensive common dates first, to get an idea on how Morgans are graded. I hope you already have the paperback by Q.D. Bowers (the one sold by www.anrcoins.com at their shop). Bowers has been an expert on these coins for decades and I certainly learned a lot from the Morgan Book, even though I've collected Morgans for 35 years.
I have to agree with morgannut. If you want to test your abilites to grade a coin, why not do it cheap? Why does a submission have to be for big bucks?
