If the images have captured the look of the surfaces accurately, it looks like it might have been cleaned - the luster looks wrong/off.

Perhaps it's just the angle of the images. I hope I'm wrong.

Nice coin. Looks like a strong strike, and a very clean cheek and neck. I can't tell much about the luster from the pics, but assuming it's as it appears, it looks like a solid 65 to me.

Mark, you posted while I was composing, but I can't tell much about the luster from the pics was because it has that may have been in the polishing creme look in the pics. I hope it's just the pictures. It looks like a keeper if it's nice and frosty.

Here are some larger pics. The luster looks really good to me. I've never been good at capturing luster with my pictures. However, I'm not going to be too quick to say you're wrong, Mark. I'm not quite the coin expert I aspire to be... Thanks for everyone's input!

Typical stike, clean surfaces. Some rub is apparant on the eagle on the reverse. I agree about the luster, but assuming it's just the picture and not an actual scrubbing, I'd put that one at AU58.

Very strong strike for a 1921 Peace. I'd put this one at MS64, doesnt appear cleaned to me. Nice Coin!

I like it as an MS63... doesn't appear worn or cleaned to me, nice strike for a '21, real nice cheek.

A few scattered scrapes and reed marks keep it out of 64, IMO.

Here's my MS62 (former NGC) for comparison:

Yeah, I noticed that too. It's a very light break in the luster. The luster is especially good on the OBV, looks like original skin...

Looks like a nice decent Peace image

I'd say it would go 63

21' are always hard to tell without holding them. The grade is a lock 64... I don't think it'd 5 (maybe NGC would 5 it)... the strike is on the high end of "a good strike"... I've seen a lot worse... but the luster looks wierd to me... 1921' coins don't look like your everyday 22 or 23 with flat luster like your coin.... they are very "satiny" or shimering if you will.... maybe your lighting is too goodimage If the coin has flat luster... then she's been worked.....

Can't hurt to send her in and see what they say.....

i would call it ms-62, but it would probably slab pcgs or ngc ms-63. after 35 years of looking at these, i'm convinced that the 1921 is the most frequently dipped/cleaned peace dollar there is. you just don't hardly ever see them original, certainly not in slabs, where i think 95% are dipped/cleaned.

Can't tell luster/cleaning from these pics, but if not cleaned I'd go with Peaceman and say lock 64 with a shot @ 5.

Strike is almost full and I can't see any rub anywhere.

BTW -- are their die polish marks on the reverse and obverse? If so you got a early strike coin.

Edit to add: after looking at the pics again, I think I do see die polish on the obverse & reverse! Is the eagle doubled? Proofs have doubling on the Eagle.

    Nice pick-up!!!

Maybe it's the pic, but the coin has no luster left. I'd say cleaned, or overdipped. Not bad enough to warrant a bodybag, but probably falls in that 62 category. Again, maybe it's the pic.

The strike is very strong for the issue, but with the seemingly impaired luster, it isn't going to go too far with a Third Party.

    I hope I'm wrong.

Small pic but here's my PCGS MS63 for comparison. I bought this coin solely because of the above average strike - quite nice fora MS63 IMHO.
