Crack it out and sell it raw for $3000 to an unsuspecting dealer.

Send it to NGC; you'll get your answer a little quicker.
Nice looking coin for a Franklin.

Keep it in the ANACS holder and just keep it for your personal collection as an example of an AT pattern to compare against.

No dip ... very real shot NT ... crack and PCGS, much as it pains me to say it with their head up their arses of late ...

ANACS makes mistakes too ya know. I tend to think it's NT. I've seen lots of NT Frankies with way more colorization than that one.

Crack it(gently) and off to PCGS with it. I'll bet you get a pleasant surprise. image

or crack it out and make a deal with a third party for THEM to sell it for $7000.00 with a buy-back guarantee if it holders at MS-65.

They can deflect any questions about not holding by saying "they just don't play that game"

I wonder how different the results would be if this were posted without the ANACS slab - perhaps the "power of the plastic" would be revealed?

    eBay Sales copy:

FOR WHEN NATURAL TONING JUST AIN'T GOOD ENOUGH - THE KEITH RICHARDS TOBACCO SPECIAL FRANKLIN

DID YOU KNOW NATURAL TONING IS NOT ALWAY DESIRABLE TO COLLECTORS? IT IS OFTEN UNEVEN AND BLOTCHY. SOME NATURALLY TONED COINS LOOK LIKE THEY WERE CRAPPED ON BY SMALL WOODLAND ANIMALS! ONCE IN A WHILE A TRUE INVESTMENT-GRADE COLLECTOR'S PIECE COMES AROUND LIKE THIS ONE - AN ARTIFICALLY TONED COIN! MOSTLY ALL "AT" (ARTIFICALLY TONED FOR SHORT!) COINS ARE FOUGHT OVER BY COLLECTOR'S BUT THIS ONE IS EVEN MORE SPECIAL! THIS COIN WAS PLACED IN THE ROLLING STONES DRESSING ROOM AND PROCEEDED TO TOUR WITH THEM. TONS OF TABACCO (AND OTHER STUFF) WAS SMOKED ON TOUR WHICH TONED THE COIN QUITE NICELY. THAT KEITH RICHARD GUY ASHED ON IT AND DROPPED IT REPEATEDLY AND IT STILL CAME OUT SMELLING AND LOOKING LIKE A ROSE!

THIS COIN WILL BE SHIPPED IN THE STONES TOUR BUS FOR A PREMIUM OF ONLY $6,000 (ON TOP OF THE CLOSING BID). A KEITH RICHARDS IMPERSONATOR WILL THEN PRESENT YOU WITH THIS FINE COIN (IN THE BUFF FOR AN ADDITIONAL $50). DON'T PASS UP THE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A PIECE OF US AND ROCK & ROLL HISTORY!! BID NOW!!!

of course, the irony is that if you are able to get an "unsuspecting dealer" to cough up $3000 for it, then that person's almost certainly not a real dealer, just a dealer-wannabe.

Looks like they were tring to mimic mint set toning but the purple color is out of place for this mint and year of original mint set- the gold looks a bit odd as well- AT. mike

Russ if you think its AT then keep it for a model and/or learning tool for other collectors. If its mislabeled or you think it is not AT submit the coin across the street. JMHO

Auction on the R&I site. Maybe it can be an "RT-recommended" coin.

Maybe R&I will buy it outright...naaaaaah.

is that because crappy a-t jobs never get into pcgs holders? or just this particular a-t job could never make it?

No Karl, it is because PCGS is overly tight with toned material to the point of bodybagging some NT coins as "questionable".
