Hi Lee Good luck on the Star wars. I saw a site where they say there is still some unopened product around. Have you ever seen anything like that? Mike
Lee The site only mentioned that they were seen but did not have anything for actual sales. That's where I got some of the information on the set to start with.
I know you have seen this sticker before but in the interest of the non-sports fans out there, I thought I would share a plak that never got off the ground: This is 1965 Wacky Sticker #23 - To the best of my knowledge, Topps never released this un-cataloged set. Chances are this product never made it past a limited test stage. Topps did release an identical version of this product twice as 1959 Wacky Plaks and 1965 Kookie Plaks - both of which were card-stock
i`ve had some good luck with my 1978 star wars sugar free gum wrappers. its a set of 56. these are some rare star wars items everything i`ve read said this set is very, very difficult to put together.
there were sugar free sticks of gum inside these wrappers. on the inside of the wrapper the was a pin-up picture of different star wars characters.
the tears on the wrappers were not caused by the opening of the wrapper but a manufacturing problem (defect)
i now have 40 of the 56 needed to complete the set !!!
<< <i> now have 40 of the 56 needed to complete the set !!! >>
Hi Lee that is really cool! to let people know, there are 4 variations on the outer wrapper and then the 56 pics on the inside wrapper. also, I will guess that Lucas had someone in his family with diabetes since it was his push to get the sugarless gum item out by Topps. thanx for sharing this very rare and great item for the non-sports nuts out there! your friend Mike
I was wondering? Does PSA holder Perez Steele postcards?
Yes they do. I have seen Perez-Steeles in PSA holders, authenticated by PSA/DNA. I don't remember if I've seen any unautographed Perez-Steeles that were straight PSA.
The Perez-Steele Postcards, Masterworks and Celebration cards are all the same size, so they will all fit in the same size PSA holders. The Greatest Moments are the size of the T-3 Turkey Reds.
I remember just recently getting a catalog from Peter Lalos (Champs and Bums), and he had some of the autographed postcards that were encapsulated by PSA/DNA, and pictured a Mantle and Williams on the back page.
Didnt there used to be different prices for different autographs? I was thinking it cost more to have a Babe Ruth autograph authenticated than a Gaylord Perry. And there used to be a listing of name with the various prices?
Is that no longer around or am I thinking of something else?
he/she just recently registered the set. it is a decent mid grade set. the card shown in the auction page has terrible centering.
5k opening bid equals almost 100 a card and 7's get that price when they are hi end. imo the opening bid is hi. cards in that set are marked as well. i would estimate that set to be worth less then the opening bid.
quote.. Presented is an attractive 55-card complete set with overall condition concentrated in the very desirable NM to NM/MT range quote
not one 8 is in that set, the reg grade is 6.35 i think. to make that statement the overall grade would be 7.50
when sellers exxagerate condition i tend to see red flags.
Just spent some time checking out the cards in the Set Registry..WOW!!
Did not realize that there were so many cards from the 40s, 50, & 60s radio/tv shows......looks like I'll be shifting my collecting focus a bit. Hope you're all prepared for questions from a "newbie" non-sportscard collector.

I picked up this Bazooka artwork a while back from the toppsvault and I enjoy finding companion pieces. The reason why this is so important to me is that I sent in 125 Bazooka wrappers and 10 cents ship/handling for the knife. When I got that thing, I was king of the world! Unfortunately one day it just came up missing? That is one of the reasons I got the artwork....well this came in today in the mail...the companion knife to a similar ad. I will be picking up the real wrapper and I'm done! I found one already but it was way too expensive. I will be patient. I know this is not a card but I just had to share this item with you guys - this meant a lot to me as a kid!
I just picked up a partial set of '53 NBC stars, they're pretty cool. Can't figure out how to add a scan, but here's a link to Levi's set Chris Walken I still need about 10 for this set if anyone has extras for sale. BTW, Bob Marcy from ScottsdaleCards.com is an excellent source for non sports.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
Hah! --- Stone...I know I have 322 of those Joe Bazooka comics from the 60's...but I don't know where the darn things are. I distinctly recall the subtotal of 322 on the front of the envelope.... I was saving them to get a knife, comapass or some other trivial piece of crapola. I see these comics selling on Ebay for some crazy bucks!
I am now determined to find them. I'll toss a post out here on this thread when I do so. Best regards.
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!
Speeder - cool card that brings back some memories. Anybody else aged enough to remember the "Andy's Gang" TV show from the 60's. I unfortunately remember the theme song and the byline for the sponsor. Regards.

Wasn't the sponsor Buster brown shoes??
Didn't Andy finish with something like.."Be good gang and be sure to go to Sunday school or church."?

Habs - you're correct in how the show closed out, and Buster Brown.
How it started though (sorry to bore those who don't care):
Theme song: I gotta gang, you gotta gang, everybody's gotta have a gang...but there's only one old gang for me...good old Andy's gang!!
At the top of the show, which usually ended up showing "Gunga Din" episodes....Andy would personalize some blather for the show's primary sponsor. It would go something like.. " Hey kids, you all know how important it is for friends to stick together....and nothing helps things stick together better than good ole Scotch magnetic tape."
Sorry..my mind is filled with clutter and useless information.

Wow Skip you just sent me down memory lane! Remember 'froggy the gremlin'? I don't think I ever really watched the show but do remember something about it. This puts us in the 'wheel chair' generation here. You were correct on the closing words too! Great memory. Thanx for the memories!
"Yes, sir, we're pals and pals stick together. And now gang, don't forget church or Sunday school."
Thanx Lee, Steve "W", Harry, Skip, Mintstate and all the others who are keeping something a little different alive. your friend Mike
I've just spent some time checking out the eBay auctions..lots of nice cards. BUT..came across some being sold by a seller that a board member has listed as one he would not buy from. So..which sellers of graded & raw should I be avoiding/looking at?
PMs would be appreciated with info. Thanks

This one is already psa/dna authenticated...wonder what it would cost to have holdered?
Mike
According to PSA's "Submission Center" on the website, the autographed card grading/authentication fee is $20.
Steve
Is that no longer around or am I thinking of something else?
