Ah Shoot...I sometimes can't remember my kids names, but I remember Andy saying "plunk your magic twanger...Froggy." And to this day, I call my.... well, you know......... Sorry, more brain trash.
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!
The Roy Rogers card is card #1 from a 24 card set. The set was issued in bubble gum packs in England in 1955. Each card has a picture from the movie "In Old Amarillo" and reading the 24 cards in order tells you about the plot of the movie and how Roy saves the day.
Although the scan looks big, the cards are very small (only about 2 1/2 inches wide and 1 11/16 high). The entire set will be headed to PSA in a few months.
The Crawford Ardath gem is actually better looking than the scan. I have a good chunk of that set and all my registry cards in that set have scans in case anyone is interested in seeing some great cards of Temple, Hepburn, Rogers, Gable, Garbo, Harlow, etc.. Each card is just a work of art.
yeppers thats my intention. this next spring at the fort show ill have it graded. i was able to get it for psa 6 money so anything above that is gravy.
from the 1956 Topps "Roundup" series. This set is full of sub sets. making it possible to collect a set within a set. cards are soft, pastel colored. great artwork.
u didnt have to join psa in order to register your set. joining only allows you to submit cards fir grading. im under the impression your set is already slabbed?
Only have 6 slabbed cards at this point. Have over 200 Diff. in the HOW set. Virtually all should come back at 5 or 6 (Although I'm hopping for some 7's). I plan to slowly have all the cards slabbed.
30's R Want List:
R73 1933 Goudey Indian Gum - Series 288 - Nos. 118 Also looking for 1953 Parkhurst & 1953 Quaker Oats Ripley's BION.
My 6 slabbed cards are #1 - PSA4, #65 -PSA5, #85 -PSA5, #170 -PSA6, #179 - PSA5, #252 - PSA4. I have at least 20 cards that are better than the PSA6 with at least 150 just as good. Once I get my membership Kit I'll send in my 6 best cards for grading. I should get 7's and hoping for some 8's or maybe even one or two 9's. As a side note I rubbered banded my cards when I was a kid (I'm 52 now). My 6 PSA cards are rubbered banded together. I got a kick out of that.

I concur on the great idea to have a non-sport forum.
I have had up for sometime the start on my 1978 Donruss KISS PSA graded set. I am about 40% complete and striving for a set with a minimum grade of 8 or higher. I may be one of the oddest ducks around considering I am working on this set and a 1971 Topps baseball set as my two all PSA graded sets. Given the size of the 71, it is nice to have a more manageable set (132 cards) to work on. It is however deceptively hard to find in grades 8 or above even though it is a newer issue. I think what adds to this is that most sets I have bought off of eBay are the "non-traditional" card collectors; i.e. KISS fans. Needless to say, their standards for "mint" are quite relaxed.
I just recently reviewed my set again on the registry and was prompted to write this e-mail by noting there are some cards out there graded higher than my examples. All right, fess up. Who has these and why have they not been offered to me for sale? Also, does anyone out their have any interest in the set? Would be interested to hear your thoughts.
Didn't mean any disrespect. I was just happy that the set started in the #6 position. I have exactly 203 more cards that I will send in to be graded. I cann't afford to send them in all at once. They'll probably go in for grading in batches of 25 or so. Good luck with your set.

I love this thread. I was a child of the 70s and remember buying packs of Charlies Angels, Wacky Packs, Happy Days, Welcome Back Kotter and Star Wars. I am interested in starting a 1964 Beatles color set and a 1977 Stars War set. If anybody has any graded or ungraded cards for sell, please let me know. Has anybody put together the 1964 Beatles color set? How difficult is it to find centered cards?
here`s a quite rare 1983 hi-c drink mail away sticker set. there is one large sheet that was folded in half to fit in mailer. this is just one half of that sheet.
Hey Lee, your Johnny Bench Master Set is Awesome. Congratulations on the great work. I used to collect Baseball cards. Got turned off by the flood of new issues in the early nineties, sold everthing I owned (Complete run of Topps sets 59 to 90, plus significant partial sets of earlier Topps & Bowman cards) That's when I started collecting WW2 era Gum Inc. cards. Good luck on completing your Master Set.

The only two WW2 era Gum Inc. sets on the Registry are Horrors of War & World In Arms (Unless I'm missing something). How do you get PSA to add sets to the Registry? There are other sets from that era that I collect. Thanks for any replies.

Packman - Beatles color cards shouldn't be difficult to find centered; this is a pretty well centered issue. WarHound - there is a "Set Request" button on the registry home page; click it follow the instructions. Everybody - do we need a petition to get PSA to add a non-sports board? Where do I sign?

Lee - I'll drop this one behind yours to keep the ad hoc/quasi board going here. Keith Here's a lid with the protective cover this on it from a movie done in 1952 with Hope - so my guess it that I have a bunch that are probably from the 52 set.
Lee and Mike Those lids are very cool. Mike, have you gotten your '39 movie stars yet?
Here are some pics from the 1910 Hassan "Indian Life in the '60s" set:
I've been cruising the NSU boards and, without intending any offense at all, the posters are an entirely different breed. Almost everything is new stuff - vintage usually means something from the '70s or '80s. Posts that I found regarding pre-mid '60s issues went largely unanswered.

No Mark - looking forward to them - I really like the movie star stuff. Did you get my mail yet?
On the indian cards - they are very collectible - great vintage stuff with terrific litho style coloring. Anyone notice the "Dude of the Village" card - dude? Cool!
Mike, knowing my fondness for movie star cards, Im curious, which set are you expecting? Maybe I can help.
PM if you would rather.
Ive searched and searched for a checklist for the Dixie Lids and cant seem to find a reliable one. Evidently they were used in the 1930s - 1950's. Fun stuff.

yes, the NSU boards are very modern non-sports ( buffy + all the others ) and for the most part they are VERY much against grading of
cards. i post there now and then. alot of overseas folks post as well.
thanks, mark.
