*** 10 PCGS Morgan Dollar Grades (incl. 1880-CC, 1890-CC & 1891-CC) -- Photos Posted !!! -- Coin

Here are the grades that I received on the 10 Morgan Dollars which I submitted via economy grade service during the April PCGS Las Vegas Invitational.
I am really pleased with the 1880-CC in 64-DMPL, the 1890-CC in 63 DMPL and the 1891-CC in 63 PL
The 1881-S in MS-66 is kind of cool, since it's the only Morgan that I now own in MS-66 -- and I made it!

Frank: Would you believe that I paid only $75 for that 1880-CC (now PCGS MS-64 DMPL) from Worldwide Coins of Atlanta way back in the mid 1970's, and I think I only paid only $80 for the 1891-CC (now MS-63 DMPL) around the same timeframe from Al Adams also of Atlanta, GA.
STMan: As for your question about my 1799 Bust Dollar icon coin -- Yes I did submit it to PCGS and it's one of those bad news/good news scenarios. The good news is that the coin is a commercial success, since I paid only $975 for it when I bought it raw back in 1991, and I've been told that it's worth in the $4000 to $7000 price range. The bad news is that PCGS did not certify the coin due to "altered surfaces".
It was the only coin of the 29 that I submitted which PCGS did not certify and grade -- so I feel pretty fortunate with that track record...
So, the Bust Dollar will have to stay raw for a while longer, unless I decide to send it back to PCGS, or to send it to either NGC or ANACS. However, I like it just the way it is! Thanks for asking about it!

Very nice coins, and as has been mentioned before, having submitted them yourself just gives them that little added sparkle in your collection.

Question: Why a black and white picture of the 80-CC? Just curious.
Oreville: The 1880-CC digital photograph was actually taken in color with a black velvet background for maximum contrast. Note the hint of light brown toning on the reverse rim of the coin from 3:00 to 5:00.
It's just one of those beautiful "Black & White" night & day looking Cameo DMPL Morgans, and is one of my very favorite Morgans in my collection! We've been together for about 30 years now...

LOL Just kidding!
Doesn't look B&W to me. Check out the toning on the reverse right. Must be a black background or cropped.

I did not look closely and was indeed fooled by the black velvet background. It is indeed a lovely coin!
