Often times I see a forum member post an image of one of his/her coins and receive lots of ooohhs, ahhhhs and thumbs up in praise of their "prize". But, the coin is actually a cleaned dog or a scrubbed pig.
Other times, wonderful coins are imaged/posted and some people nitpick them to death in a very unfair fashion.
This isn't meant to pick on either group, but I wonder - which of you are more likely to be overly complimentary by nature
and which of you tend to be overly critical A show of hands please?

I've seen it where a people will be nice to a certain poster no matter what....and also where they hold their tongue (NOT) for others.
So, I think some people are predisposed to be "mean" to certain others while "ooohhhhhing and ahhhhhing" their friends.
For me, personally, I comment on some coins that I like and take the time to (those I am interested in or know something about....I don't comment on 2cent pieces because I know nothing about them and don't really like their overall look nor do I comment much on dimes (too small for me to like much, although a rare few really stand out to me).
I don't think it is my place to "talk down" coins...but that is just me, I err on the side of politeness unless the poster is an @$$
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Actually, I'm pretty honest. If its a great coin, I'll praise, if it sucks, I'll rip it -- only if it the coin belongs to an experienced Board member. I think newbies deserve a little more leeway with their purchases in the beginning. As I have learned, its takes a little while to develop a good eye.
I always love the "it's NT I swear" posts. Those usually get my more nastier side to come out.

If someone posts a coin and goes on about how great it is and I think it spent the first hundred years of its life a foot below the water line in a public toilet, I will make a negative comment.
I will also make a negative comment if someone comes on the boards bragging how he ripped a cherry, undergraded coin, and when I see the pic, it's obvious that the guy doesn't have a clue how to grade it, and in fact, he is the one that got taken. An example was a guy who thought he got a raw type coin that would grade MS 64 & from the pic, he would have been lucky if it graded AU 50 (and yes, he clearly overpaid for the coin).

of a coin. One is to merely share a coin with the Forum. In that case
most of us are nice and friendly and gentle. When a person asks for opinions,
then they are entitled to an honest opinion , even if that opinion may seem harsh.

more than I do or if it really is a good coin but not outstanding, then I'll withhold
comment. Sometimes even the outstanding coins will not get a response if it seems
unnecessary or overly redundant. Very few bad coins get posted around here and
if you comment on every rare or gem coin you can spend your life typing.
Or maybe I'm just a guy that gets along with most folks and enjoys coins - without having the need to bash others to get my point across.
Or maybe I'm just someone who likes hanging out with most
