What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?

Plus, I don't think Coin World holders have Intercept Shield in them.

Personally, I would like to see a grading company come along that would have the stones to hand write the coin details and grade on the insert...

It exists, but I don't have a pic. "Certigrade" hand writes all the info on the insert (including their name). The holder is a Coin World holder. Anyone else from the Twin Cities recall seeing these, or have a pic? I've seen at least one of them on ebay some time back, but forgot how to search for itens that have already sold. Maybe someone can find one in the items sold on ebay.

The only "Certigrade" service I know of is Certi-grade Coin Grading Service. They use a PCGS 1 type shell with label that resembles a PCGS 1 "rattler" label but the slab is slightly larger than the current PCGS slabs. For those of you with the book it's on page 132.

There are couple of services that did write and or sign the certificates/labels. ANACS 1, EAC 1, FCS1 & 2, INL 1 & 2, and NES 1. Possibly others as well.

Blast from the past while researching these holders this weekend - love the interaction between Russ and the "Sheriff" - great times. :D

Yep... some names from the past.... I recall seeing some of these slabs at coin shows in the PNW.... Cheers, RickO

  • Never seen that slab model before, but it looks remarkably similar to the old PCGS rattler holder.

I don't think PCGS graded modern Canadian back in 1896 though.
