Where did you get that info?
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

$100 per coin is the normal walkthrough price. $65 for 5 or more coins under $1500 in value.

Russ--
I got this email from PCGS this morning:
<<Dear Mr. Clankeye, you will be flown to Florida, Wed Jan 7th and forced at gun point to submit five coins in our new $200 walk through service. Please dress appropriately.>>
I'm peeved.

If you want your coin turned around asap, then what is it worth to you? Obviously, PCGS feels it is worth $200 or more to many people...or, they don't have the resources to get the $100 walk throughs done so they move it up..
So, now, people will b itch about the prices instead of the turn around times, right?
Hehh....glad I don't fit the bill.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I own my own business and can appreciate charging fees for different services. Where did the double the normal $100 fee come from? I guess I have sticker shock. For the record I would not spend $200 to have a coin graded at a show. I have paid $100 quite a few times and have always thought $100 was too high.
NGC gets my show grading money about 90% of the time because of the high fee PCGS charges. NGC also finds a way to get the coins graded QUICKLY and at $55 a coin.
<< <i>Where did the double the normal $100 fee come from? >>
<< <i>Just to clarify, the $200 service is an additional option for those who need their coin(s) back REALLY fast. As tradedollarnut noted, our show volume has increased tremendously over the past year and a half, and this super-rush service supplements (but does not replace) our current show services. >>

Actually, I'm deeply sympathetic to your plight. The same way I'm sypathetic to the plight of million dollar a year baseball players when they are forced by those nasty owners to go out on strike.

it really is no skin off my back with PCGS charging $200 a coin for quick service since I barely use them for even the $100 service.
so I guess the joke is on you for not reading closely.
<< <i>it really is no skin off my back with PCGS charging $200 a coin for quick service >>
And clearly, this thread demonstrates that.
Russ, NCNE
here is the rest of my sentence which concludes my point you keep missing:
<< <i>since I barely use them for even the $100 service >>
<< <i>come on and finish my quote or are you trying to make a point by taking words out of context? >>
If I quoted everything you've said in this thread, including:
<< <i>I find this insulting. where does the greed stop? >>
Does that make this any more credible?
<< <i>it really is no skin off my back >>

you win. I give up.
