I emailed someone much higher on their company totem pole and will wait to hear back from them before I do anything.

Remember- somethings "value" is simply what someone will pay for it. If you got a coin for $100 that others are selling for $10,000 then it simply means that at that time and place the "value" of the coin was $100. Previous sales, book prices, etc. do NOT establish value. Your winning bid established the value.
