PCGS economy grading time
The PCGS econmy turn-around time is now down to 50 days and will probably move lower soon. The additional graders and processing staff we've added has done the trick, even in the facing of submissions that are still rising.
Thanks to all of you for your patience. It is still our goal to have economy turn-around time be 30 days or less.

On behalf of my shipment in waiting, thanks for the good news. My last economy, posted last week, took 52 calendar days, so we are moving in the right direction ...
Edited to correct number of days ... geesh, use a calculator, will ya?

<< <i> Fifty days or less is hardly anything to brag about. >>
where does this come from? Who said he's bragging... He simply came on and said things are improving, which makes those that do submitt happy... Cause its news in the right direction. But bragging?
Some folks just are never satisfied with any good news...

Now how about those moderns? My modern also arrived 15 Sep, with an estimate of 30 days quicker than economy, and it is still not done. 9012511.

Thanks for the update. I now have hopes that my economy submission from last week will be in time for the FUN show.
30 days or less... Hmmm ... that would be really cool.

Not as cool as all the economy submissions I had last year that were turning at about three weeks. Ah, the good old days.

That's awesome customer service to let us know you are addressing the problem and how you are coming along.
But if they come back too soon, it doesn't give us enough time to forget exactly what the coins we submitted look like.
<< <i>NGC and ANACS don't seem to be having a problem. >>
At least not that problem...
Way to go!

I totally disagree. I think PCGS' effort to improve turnaround time is a sound business decision. People can easily switch to NGC, which currently has a lower turnaround time (and a very slightly lower cost in some cases). Furthermore, new companies such as NNC are beginning to emerge that boast lower cost and faster turnaround time. Of course, NNC does not have the quality of grading of PCGS or NGC, but it does show that people are looking for other alternatives.
Edited to Add: I just checked NGC's web site. Their economy service is only $15, compared to $16 for PCGS. AND, NGC's economy turnaround time is estimated at only 21 days! PCGS had to improve turnaround time!

I definitely acknowledge your point. Yet, there are plenty of dealers that are sending MUCH more of their material "across the street" where we can turn our inventory much faster. Some of the neophytes want to hide behind the idea that the coin brings more money in a PCGS holder. What they don't understand is we can sell 3 groups of coins in the same time we can sell one group of PCGS coins. When you can turn the money over 3 times as fast, price per coin doesn't mean crap. It makes the decision pretty simple.
I still don't understand how that can be true when people are waiting on economys on day 70+.
Maybe it was for modern economy's only?
Thanks for the update on the econ times. I for one do understand.
