old COIN WORLD magazines worth anything?

I have pretty much all the coin world magazines from 1995 through 2002 - should I just chuck 'em or put them on ebay?

Kind of a shame to throw them away - lots of good articles.

Any opinions?

  • Find your local coin club and donate to the YN's. Or offer them here as a giveaway for anyone willing to pay the postage. No real value but it would be a shame to just throw them out. Many new collectors could learn alot from them.

Either/or you could donate them to the periodical library I have here for the club. It is going rather well, costs them nothing, and provides some good information. I'm still working on the online article search for them too...that's a long undertaking.

Anyhow, I will pay shipping on them if you don't find a better home for them - the people here will appreciate it.

they would give an interesting and informative insight into how the prices rose over the last eight years. there are always comments about "undervalued" this or "overvalued" that around here as well as the constant harping about how much moderns have risen. those 1995-1998 issues should show what the overall market was like till it started it's current rise.

You could try Ebay, but chances are you won't even be able to cover the shipping charges. I had a large group of Numismatic Scrapbook magazines that dated from the late 1950s to the late '60s. Years ago that magazine was the a major source for articles and numismatic research. There were also a lot of "real ads" for coins that had prices from "the old days." I disposed of them by setting them out on the free table at coin shows. I could not sell them.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I wish I had known you had them, Bill...I would actually pay to have those in the library.
