I can't tell from the pictures if it is real or not.
However, if I had an 1804 US dollar in my hands, I'd spend the $30-$50 to find out with PCGS. That wouldn't be such a big gamble to take given the (extremely slim) chance of authenticity. If it is a fake, it would have been a gamble, if it is real, it would have been very much worth it to have it authenticated.
Pardon my ignorance, but I thought all legit 1804 Dollars had been accounted for. Are there still some real ones out there?
Funny, click on properties and the seller has listed it correctly, "false"!!
.....GOD
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
Yeah right. How many think he paid more than $5 for this thing?
I like the way he suggests it might be real. If you had an 1804 dollar and were 1% curious about it's authenticity, tell me you wouldn't shell out the $30 to find out for sure.

That's what they thought up until early 1962 then the King of Siam set turned up. Also since they obviously didn't keep records of the number of restrikes they made, how can you ever be sure they have all turned up? Third, when the class II specimens were being peddled and the mint took steps to recover all of them, there were reports at the time that one of the class II's was sent out of the country and not returned. To date that rumored second class II specimen has never turned up. Did it ever really exist? Who knows. But if it did, it may still exist out there somewhere and may still turn up again someday.
A total fake--with five or six days left on the auction, I am curious to see how much someone with more money than brains will pay for it. Also note the TOS "all sales are" provision. Obviously a seller who agrees with Woody Allen--take the money and run!!
The mintmark on the 1893-S looks ok but I wouldn't make a final decision without seeing it in person. As far as the grade goes, "EF/AU details"??? More like a harshly cleaned VF.....
As I recall, there is a diagnostic for an authentic 93-s. I believe it's something to do with a defect in one of the letters in Liberty. Can anyone explain the diagnostic or post a picture? Also, isn't there a difference in the denticles (assuming the date isn't altered) between San Francisco and other mints?
I believe it was this date K6AZ pointed something out about the way the S lines up with the denticles. I can't find that thread, but I'm not sure the picture is clear enough anyway.
