I thought the point of this coin was the semiquincentennial. Minting 4547 would be overtly political.
You are correct. Let's go with 25,000, a number that should meet demand, maybe even sell out, keepi in line with the 25,000 theme, and maybe even account for a 75,000 typo.
I had heard the Trump gold was going to be an extremely, limited number release. 75K is not extremely limited in my book.
Yeah, 25K would have been in line with 2026 1oz eagles and they still haven't sold out.
However, I'm still plan on picking one up unless the price is way over the top.

Well, they are on the Mint's pricing grid, so the price is not going to be a mystery. $1,040 to $990 over spot gold. Is that way over the top for a coin with a maximum mintage of 75K?

Hearing that they're 'only' going to mint 50k initially.
Are you hearing whether or not they have privies planned? If not, it will be one of the very few coins this year with absolutely no privy on at least some of them. So far, it's starting to sound like the 2024 FH silver medal.
If they do that, complete with the announced 75K maximum mintage, short mintage, and privy hunt, they are setting themselves up for a gold Liberty Bell style return fiasco with ~48K non-privy $5K one ounce gold coins.

They sure do! That said, it's hard to believe they would have any interest in 18K of anything with a 60K maximum mintage being sold at a $1K premium to spot. UNLESS, that is, they are privy to a privy hunt that has not yet been announced to the masses.
If the actual mintage was 30K, there is no way they would be allowed to take down 18K. And, even then, at that price with that mintage, I doubt they would have that level of interest.
Either the Mint is just messing around with the numbers, and nothing we have seen means anything yet, or these will actually have a maximum mintage of 60K, ABPP did actually take 18K, or 30%, of them, and they will have something like 2K privy marks mixed in.
If the Mint actually does something like this, I'm not sure how the math is supposed to work for the rest of us. It works for ABPP, because they would be guaranteed their 3.3 privies per 100 bought, if they are evenly packed into shipping boxes like they were for the FH silver medals.
The privies will go for moon money, similar to what the Mint tried to get for the gold Liberty Bells. The rest will be slabbed at bulk dealer rates, and dealers won't get hurt on them, with 70s selling for a little more than cost and 69s for a little less.
As for the masses, though, we'd have to take a 3% shot at getting a $20K+ coin for $5K out of the box, with a 97% of getting a loser that won't be worth $5K in secondary market, with $4K worth of gold and a mintage of up to 60K. Assuming the Mint will take returns, though, it becomes a free shot at an expensive coin.
TBD, because, honestly, none of this makes sense. Not ABPP actually taking 18K, and not the Mint running this lottery, after seeing how many of the gold Liberty Bells came flying back when there was no flip. As there certainly will not be for 60K gold coins being sold for $1K above intrinsic value.

As was posted the ats is now only 12k, so not sure where you mention interest in 18k. I still think the mint has to strike the final amount all at once since it is so late in the year.
And it looks to be well below the Kennedy so far, unless the mint is playing with the numbers.
So i would wait for the morning of the release to know for sure.

The site still says Mintage/Product Limit 75K -- are they planning to lower it to 60K?
The ATS of 30K screen shot above has them with a status of BACKORDER
The current 12K ATS says IN_STOCK. 12K seems more like the right number for these, and at that mintage they might actually sell out. There might be some room to sellout at 15K -- but above that number will be difficult to have a sellout.

I think the 1804 & HR Saint are far more appealing coins. Yet, at 15K they had no flip and people like me bought them (only 1804 in my case) just because we liked them. I think at 12 or 15K these would sit around for a long time. The only caveat is the unique and highest ever coin face value. Perhaps that would make a difference?
Obviously the privy game could as well, much though it pains me to even write that word as I'm so utterly sick of privys.

No, I'm sorry. I misremembered. I thought it was 60K. You are correct -- it's 75K. All other points remain the same.
As I said, it might all mean nothing, and the Mint might just be messing around with the numbers. Everything else I said is speculation based on a maximum mintage being way out of line with the price at which they are being offered, and all adjustments to ATS representing sales, rather than just changes in the number.
Because you are right, something around 12K would be the right number for something like this with no sales gimmick. But the fact remains, if they recognize that, they could actually stimulate demand by adjusting the maximum mintage to reflect reality. As it is, keeping an unrealistically high maximum number on the website will suppress demand, because it will always serve as an overhang on the market, no matter what ATS says, or how quickly they go to Back Order or Unavailable.
This close to release, whatever is being sold to ABPP would have already been subtracted from ATS, assuming any sold at all. So it's not unreasonable to conclude that a reduction of 18K represents sales to ABPP. The question, if that is true, is what would motivate them to take so many. Until further notice, I'm going with something going on behind the scenes to make the Mint believe it could sell up to 75K at around $5K, and ABPP grabbing their full allocation.
If the Mint stays true to form, based on what they did 2 years ago with the FH silver medal privies, they will short mint 50K (or maybe even 30K), mix around 2K privies into them, and generate an immediate sell out, with ABPP receiving a massive over allocation of privies (what was supposed to be 2K out of 75K mixed into 50K or 30K, with guaranteed distribution to ABPP based on how they are packed into shipping boxes). Unlike the silver medals, however, where the non-privies held their value at $105 each, these won't at $5K each, and many of them will go back to the Mint if they actually do this. TBD, but something is definitely going on, with ATS falling from 30K to 12K in the past few weeks.
It looks like these are struck on the 1 ounce gold buffalo blanks. I doubt they would have a shortage of those so not sure why the tinkering with the ats numbers.
They also have a HHL of 4 which doesn't jibe with the 12k ats.

when will they release the price info
It's on the Mint's bullion pricing grid. Final price depends on gold prices the week before. But if I remember correctly, it's $100 more than the price of the proof Gold Buffalo.
So if it went on sale now, it would be $5190, with gold buffalo coins at $5090
The 2026 ASE Congratulations Set was pushed back from January to late February. . .I don't track the changes when the USM delays a release however, it seems to happen more often than it did three or four years ago.

75,000 mintage! Holy smokes, these will be trading at melt in no time. I am buying the 1907 HR and 1804 instead.
Would it surprise anyone if gold goes up in the next two weeks and the coin costs more?
