Picked up one of my favorite Triple Threads cards of all time.

Also picked up a cool auto from Mattingly Charities. Love the pic of Donnie Baseball being that happy.

And one last one of last year's NL Rookie of the Year.

I thought Mattingly looked like Phil Jackson on this card. Mattingly is a favorite of mine.

Good call on the Phil Jackson comp.

I don't get why the Bryce Harper card says "Clown question".

I don't get why the Bryce Harper card says "Clown question".

It is a quote from Bryce Harper in 2012:

The 19-year-old Washington Nationals outfielder quipped, "That's a clown question, bro," to a Toronto TV reporter who asked if he planned to take advantage of Canada's lower drinking age after belting a long home run in a win over the Blue Jays.

Harper is a Mormon, a religion that forbids alcohol. A Nationals PR staffer suggested the reporter try a different line of questioning, but Harper was ready.

"I'm not answering that," Harper said. "That's a clown question, bro."

THanks, Chicago1976 for the Bryce explanation. Seems weird to put that on a card though.

@Mikeygiggs_336699 I am a (recreational) runner so I had to do a quick search of your bib number. Holy smokes that's a blazing fast time! Well done!

Thanks @waxman I was going into this race with a goal of running sub 3 hours or at least into low 3 hours, that weekend had warmer than normal temps that put a dent into that and could have salvaged a 3:05, but around 22 mile mark left hammy became balky and really affected the last miles and jogged slowly into finish. Monday weather the day I left Chicago was in the mid 80 degree mark! Boston, New York and now Chicago majors in the books.

Great work Mike, and congrats on the Big 3 majors! I was going to say that your time from last weekend qualifies for Boston again.

@waxman It does for 2028 as I will be 50 by that time and my age qualification time is 3:20 so an 8 minute cushion is good enough hopefully.

Piggs, thank you for sharing those grade results. I can see the grading Gods are still stingy.

Those 71 Topps are sweet. They blend right in with the SGC case.

picked up a clean 2021 Masters gnome for a great price (winner that year - Hideki Matsuyama). i think this dude may be my favorite of them all due to the various badges on his shirt. in real, non-gnome life i have a running collection of Masters badges that i've pestered former winners to sign for me.

this now makes 5 of 10. the OG gnome from '16 runs for 5 figs, so i'm still planning my method of attack on that one. it involves either the donation of plasma for the next 200 years, or a mask and a hand cannon.

Galaxy that gnome is cool! Congrats on the pickup. Looks like Santa on vacation. 😁

Bought another big collection. Highlights are a sealed case of 91 Ultra baseball, 29 sealed UD high numbered sets, 6 90 score sealed boxes, and multiple complete sets that I will have to verify. I will be opening the 91 UD football to find the Montana!

Interested in that 85 Topps set. Please message me if it's available.
