Should be very tight when the pre-MNF standings pop up here tomorrow. The Buffalo vs L.A. game will be fun to watch and also will produce the top dogs on our leaderboard.
Three weeks running, one game has taken down the whole room. Green Bay, then Buffalo, and this week Dallas. All nine of us had the Cowboys on Thursday, and Tampa won 24-16. @ElMagoStrikeZone pointed out that Dallas was the only home team all week with a better record than its opponent. That was the one that lost.
Giants and Commanders tied 27-27, the first tie of the season. I counted it as a point for nobody. All nine of us had a side in that one, so whether perk scores a tie as zero or a half, nobody gains or loses ground on anybody.
@perkdog and @Saint Ezzard both go 11-2-1, the best week anyone's had this year. Perk now has 11 wins in back-to-back weeks. His two misses were Dallas and Cleveland, the team that made him a solo genius last Thursday. Saint had San Francisco (32-29 over Seattle), Green Bay (31-7 in Chicago) and the Jets (17-12 in Cleveland), and only missed Dallas and Indy.
@galaxy27 said he wouldn't pick against Atlanta if they played the '72 Dolphins with 10 players. Baltimore isn't the '72 Dolphins, and they still needed overtime to win it 30-23. Steve was the only other one on the Falcons.
Galaxy and I finally split. Six different picks this week after three weeks of turning in the same card. I won three of the five that got decided, so I take the week by a game.
@BLUEJAYWAY got his picks in early "before the mind changing evil devil jabs me with a pitchfork." He was the only one on Miami and the only one on Arizona, and he went 5-8-1. The devil may have had a point.
Steve, Darin and BJ all took the Raiders and the Saints. Patriots 45-17, Vikings 23-13. I took Minnesota this week, so I guess I trust them now.
Left to play: Bills at Rams tonight. Six of us have the Rams: perk, ElMago, galaxy, Steve, BJ and me. Canes, Saint Ezzard and Darin have Buffalo. If the Rams win, Canes, perk, ElMago and I are in a four-way tie at 50. If Buffalo wins, Canes sits alone at 51 and Saint joins a four-way tie for second at 49. ElMago said this game would decide who's on top, and he's right either way.

had a beautiful, ground-gaining week evolving, then the afternoon + night games happened
a big fu thank you goes out to the Chargers, Seahawks and Falcons
i wouldn't pick any of you again even if basebal was the HC of the opposing team
One thing I’ve learned which gives this process clarity: There will be a weekly element of regret for each of us, no matter the level of success. What originally seems likely becomes a recipe for anguish. It has been good fun so far being totally engaged until the last play on Monday. This season’s NFL is a circus. 🎪
just my take, but based on what i've observed thru 5 weeks, defense seems to be at a premium more than ever before. if you've got a good one, you'll be in every game. look at Minnesota. their offense finally executed somewhat this past Sunday, but as a whole it hasn't set the world on fire. their kicker has scored the most points on the team this season. but that defense. putting opposing offenses in headlocks every week. very few teams have one like that.
how many freaking times is a team going to have a lead with like 7 seconds left and puke a victory up by allowing the opposition to move at warp speed down the field? i can't tell you how many times i've picked a team (or bet on one) that only needed to make one stop for me to win, but the overwhelming feeling i had is that they stood no chance of doing so. it seems like they need an extra player or two on the field to prevent the other team from blowing down the field and cramming one into the end zone. Chargers, Seahawks and Falcons......just to give 3 examples. allowing the Broncos, Niners and Ravens to treat their defenses like a sieve when their lives depended on it in the 4th Q & OT.
it really is a weird sensation this season, more so than past years. am i the only one?
A couple more observations:
1) Coaching has changed. Dan Campbell’s methods and influence are all over the place. Some of these games coming down to the final play (kickoff, long pass, game winning FG, WTF?) happen due to crazy bad decisions. But,…..
2) The players exhibiting the ability to stay strong throughout the course of a game are quite rare. Modern football is exhausting. A 2 or 3 score lead isn’t a guaranteed win. And 7 seconds is a lifetime. We’ve seen a lot of wild comebacks and finishes already. There will be a lot more.

Coaching has changed dramatically
They get all caught up in analytics and it's literally destroying teams when they get slaughtered on a 4th down attempt rather than take a chip shot FG
Never mind what happened with Washington, that was on a different level and JD gets just as much blame as Quin does, the biggest question is why try to drain the clock down on OT when next score wins, the fact that that idiot didn't get fired says a lot about how bad the Washington owners are, how Quin is even still in the NFL after the worst collapse in Super Bowl history is beyond me

Something else about that fiasco which is disturbing to me, if Quinn had assistants communicating via headsets, why didn’t any of them specifically tell him to call for a spike? Where was the help? It was a complete collapse.
Well not much to add after another masterful write up by bgr, we are not even at mid season and the log jam has started with 4 of us in second place and only 1 game out from a collosal elbow to elbow situation at the top
We can't sleep on Saint or Darin who are both nipping at the heals of the 2nd place spot
Galaxy, Steve and Blue got to get some momentum going and not fall to far behind, of course they all could be in first after this week because as the week 5 showed us in the the NFL the impossible is the possible
Lots of questions remain, the biggest one is if our very own stevek is going to put his picks in for week 6 after doing his Brett Favre retirement speech
We shall see, job well done everyone and a shout out to @bgr for another great write up, it's much appreciated

@ElMagoStrikeZone was alone on Tennessee. Texans 26-3.
Steve, Darin and BJ all took the Raiders and the Saints. Patriots 45-17, Vikings 23-13. I took Minnesota this week, so I guess I trust them now.

As Buckaroo Bonzai said... "Wherever you go, there you are."
I will no longer be picking Tennessee even if they are scheduled to play in the Puppy Bowl.

regardless of what you think about Rome, i can almost guarantee this is the best synopsis of yesterday's games that you could possibly run across
i personally couldn't wait for this
