@johnny9434 what the hell man. That is four posts which at least partially consist of AI slop and coins which are not yours. That is not the purpose of the thread, (EDIT: Now 5 posts as you are still posting...) (EDIT Again: Now 6!!!)
@johnny9434:
Most, if not all of us that post here weekly do so in a single post. Your multiple posts clog this up & push other posters out of view. You’re certainly welcome to post your coins here, but it would be great (& courteous) if you did so in one post. Thanks in advance for understanding.
Back from my fishing trip. Caught a cold the next to the last day and had to leave one day early ... missing one more day of big fat rainbows and dinner with a coin friend that night.
This was one of the NEWP's from the ANA ... a couple of free hand shots with coffee this morning, using my "salmon" cribbage board as a tilt prop ...
.
Then some cropped shots from a previous appearance
.
And finally, one of those big fat rainbows. Normally they barely come out of the water because I am a hook and release guy but this one caught the fly on the back of his tongue so I had to get him out and extract before putting him back in the water where he swam off.
I told my oldest Son I really should have done a video on this one as he was opening and closing his mount, as if to say, "Put me back, put me back!"
.

Damn millennials🤣
I have a sales guy and I always know it’s him when he text me because it comes in at 14 messages one right after another ping, ping, ding, bing, ding, ding, ping, ding, bing, dinging bing.
I’m like can’t you put one cohesive thought together before you hit the submit button.

Hahaha! Chris
And here, in this case, with this poster, it seems to be a post count thing as well.
Just grab whatever you can find on the interweb and throw it up.
Which makes a lot of us want to throw up.

... I have to agree. @johnny9434 I enjoy your participation here, but the volume of posts, AI-generated material, and coins that aren't yours is starting to overwhelm the thread. An occasional outside reference that adds to a discussion is fine (like the NE Colonial find), but the point of this thread has always been for members to share our own coins, finds, questions, and collecting experiences. Let's get it back in that direction.
Collecting: Dansco 7070; Middle Date Large Cents (VF-AU); Box of 20;
I had a 1937 proof set graded recently. The coins are on their way back to me with delivery scheduled for Monday.
These two coins are the best of the five coins in the set.
The nickel has multicolored toning that does not show up very will in the TrueView photo.
The half has frosted devices and mirrored fields on both sides of the coin that, in hand, look better than they appear in the TrueView photo.
I also have this raw 1956 Type 2 half dollar that I recently acquired. Even though it has hairlines on the obverse fields I am sending it in to be graded because of the heavily frosted devices and the deeply mirrored fields (the contrast is exceptional).
@USSID18 . Congrats. I found quite a bit of silver as a kid in the 60's & 70's. The only sad part about finding silver in today's commerce is that someone out there probably inherited some coins, didn't care what they were, so just spent them. It is their loss and your gain but I always feel a little sad for the collector who probably loved the coins. James

Thanks!
If you found silver as a kid in the 60's and could actually keep it?..............you came from a well-to-do family... That's for sure!
I had a paper route as a kid in the mid 60's. On collection day, my pockets were so full of silver, my pants were falling down! There was no way in hell I could ever have kept all that silver as a kid! I had to pay for the papers. And what profit was left over, was just enough to buy some candy!
It's not that people inheriting the coin don't care, it's that they don't know or understand that it's silver.
There are bank tellers out there today (Oct 2026) that don't know what silver coins look like. I've actually educated a few and showed them silver dime, quarters and halves,.........they were shocked!! The expression on their faces were priceless!! 🤣 😉
@USSID18 I had a conversation with a teller at my credit union this past week. She had 4 Morgan dollars in her drawer and gave them to a customer for $1 each. I explained to her what they were worth and she almost fainted. I showed an app that gives you the current value per Melt value too. She gave 4 morgan dollars away to a customer for $4 and she could not believe she did it. She asks me questions every week when i pick up new boxes of coins.

See, I told you. I don't speak with forked tongue do I. 🤣 🤣 😉
@USSID18 . Actually i did a paper route; (took it from 14 to 86 papers a day.) However the 4 years I spent selling Fuller Brush netted me the vast amount of my silver. Actually it is a misnomer to say "selling" Fuller Brush; you only got a commission when you delivered and got PAID! In one rare instance I had a very angry woman pay for a more than $34 dollar order in silver coin (circa 1976.) I spent months holding those coins seperate; i was waiting for whoever owned the huge Harley Chopper that was in the front yard to come looking for his coins, lol. James

Saturday morning contemplation: What to do with 9 privies, 7 found in yesterday's unboxing. I've set two aside for grading, 65 min, mebbe a 66...

If you have the time and tenacity, it's still amazing what you will find out there!
It works
