    Making one is easy. Making one to fool PCGS should probably be more difficult as these coins did not circulate and any worn down to PO-1 would need to be artificially circulated as I don't think a 1970's pocket piece would have even worn down to Fine-15. I've never seen one lower than AU.

    Making one and getting it graded go hand in hand here.

    Just don’t make it look like it went through a washing machine.

    I'm assuming you didn't find someone who won the reward.

    I had to send a Shield nickel back twice to one of the services looking for them to identify it as an 1879 in fair 2. It turned out to be a common date.

    I was thinking the same thing until I just now checked the POP reports. A single example in AU50 and another in AU55 (ten in AU58). Even if you found that AU half, it would be a while before you buffed it down to a worn grade, I'd think.

    Rhetorical question: At this point, how many hundreds of years do you think it would take for a 70-D to circulate enough to wear down from AU to PO?

    hundreds? there are po01 that are simply decads old

    instead of cracking one, have everyone remember to check junk silver sellers for a well circulated example

    I'm not seeing the example posted as being a 1970. To my eyes I see it as a '69. I don't see the correct arc of the 0 in the date, it appears too small to me.
