In my parts, which is not exactly the toolies, brick and mortar shops are not abundant but by taking to just one shop that one has traded with one is going to get a pretty good idea what a coin dealer is paying. A dealer you have traded with in the past might buy your piece for $50 or so but do they want 5 or 6 or more hanging out in their case waiting for a collector or accumulator to buy? Very doubtful. If a seller of one piece can get $200 from someone on ebay, great, but a sale made to me at 1/2 of that price is not going to happen. Coin dealer whose livelihood depend on making smart purchases for inventory needs someone to go to with purchases. Otherwise, they get buried with stuff they can't sell for a profit, a most unhappy development.

If there ever was a coin made for the ebay marketplace the Trump $1 with it's highly prized privy mark is it. Get on the bandwagon, pay $200 or more for a manufactured "rarity" but don't complain when the dealer says the dreaded words, "Not interested at any price above face value. Don't have anybody to take them to." If you like the design, for reasons known only to you, fine. Pay a premium to get a really nice one LATER after the hype has run it's course. Good luck. To buy these, even only 1 of them, at $200 or more, however, is folly and a colossal waste of money. Opinion.

I agree with you and now realize that my characterization of B&M coin shop as the "real marketplace" is quite a stretch. I think the privy marked dollars were distributed way more fairly than the Declaration of Independence privy marked quarters, even though I’m enjoying the benefit of moving over 500 for one guy who discovered many rolls. I suppose I’d offer $40-$50 in the shop for the privy marked Trump dollar if they walked in. Maybe more ??????What was shocking was how fast counterfeiters were able to reproduce them quarters en masse. Never considered all this modern stuff having such a following. That’s good for the hobby, in general. TYVM

So, I'm horrible at grading, can you point me in the right direction on these on what I should be looking for? I will probably take some decent photos of my top 2 or 3 and give it a go.

They're bringing beaucoup bucks on ebay, $200 or more for a single coin. I visited my favorite coin store yesterday asking if they were buying Trump $1 with the privy mark. I got a quizzical look from the shop employee and an immediate answer. "Not at this time," I was told.
