Saturday morning before the the upcoming show this week. Coffee kicking in. Yesterday I spent some time going over what I was bringing for grading, for sale/trade ... getting everything priced, etc ... making sure I have cash, a checkbook, and all my notes for lot viewing and tables to hit.
I probably missed some things but it'll make it work. Speaking of which, sometimes this hobby actually feels like work!
Not that I mind. I'm looking forward to seeing friends ... and lots and lots of coins. I'm as ready as I'm going to be.

Seems like every big show now I go through the exercise of bringing a few duplicates ... and inevitably I pass across the next two coins, admiring them both and tucking them back in the box.
Same Die Marriage. Same Die State. Same grade. Same sticker status (both submitted by me).
And yet, another show will pass, and so far, neither of these have come out for sale.

But also, a swap, a trade + buy, a submission to our host TPG, two consignments, a beanco submission, a pickup + buy & a pic submission. Then there’s dinners, finally meeting a long time fellow collector in person + certain members here. And then, walking this massive bourse. While it may seem like work, there’s no other way I would rather spend next week! Looking forward to finally meeting you, Dr. Dave & associated bust nuts as well! Oh yeah, I’ll be pinch hitting behind a couple tables, too.

But all of a sudden, I am sitting on a porch in Pennsylvania holding back the tears. Kid is off to Penn State.

Well, I received my CAC results back yesterday, I typically average about 75% success rate with a pretty good batting average of predicting what will pass and what won't. This was my worst submission ever, both in terms of overall success as well as prediction success. But they say misery loves company so at least @pursuitofliberty can wallow down there with me
The coins are mostly pretty dang nice coins though so the lack of beans doesn't bother me. Unfortunately, I normally ask for JA's rationale via red sticky note but I realized that my submission form with that request is sitting in my filing cabinet so I must not have asked for feedback on the form I sent in.
To not be too much of a downer on a lovely Saturday morning, I did get a new addition for my hooker's wallet (aka whore's purse). These were designed to hold $5 gold pieces (or gold sovereigns) and to be pinned inside a woman's dress. The purse itself is sterling silver. I want a blend of different designs and own plenty of Liberty Head gold so I decided to do one Indian $5 and three modern proof gold commems. Still space for one more.

Apologies to all today! I put together an extended post including a WFOM show report, etc. & I saw a minor edit. After I did the edit, I got the dreaded “we will post your comment after it is approved, etc.” We all know that approval never comes. It’s now history that no one will see. Too bad; I spent at least 1/2 hour composing it & don’t have the time now to do it all over again.

Great Britain 1967 Record Proof Sixpence, seller's picture.
This coin was found in a bog-standard 1970 "Last of the LSD" proof set. 750k sets struck and somehow this coin snuck into or found its way into one of these sets. This coin is not recorded anywhere else & a standard set sells for about 5-10 USD. Decent enough looking coin IMHO, but rarity and story quite good.

OK, I’m a day late with this reattempt to recreate my original post from yesterday. But, “Saturday-like”, I am sipping a Red Eye this AM.
Before I post today’s coin, though, I would like to briefly share my WFOM experience from this week. To put it simply, it was a GREAT show, from both my standpoint & every collector & dealer I talked to. I missed this show 3 years ago in Pittsburgh, but heard from just about all attendees about the fabulous venue, hospitality & activity. This one had to have at least matched that. The bourse was “active”, but with the wide aisles & massive room, one could navigate without any issues. And, the crowd seemed good & I would guess it rivaled winter FUN. Close, anyway. Btw, I’ll recommend members check out the various show reports posted by @Desert Moon. They are a fun read, very informative & actually might make one feel they were there vicariously if unable to attend. A BIG THANKS, Al!
As for me, I had my best show ever, from both a sell & buy side. I spent a lot of time in the area I refer to as the “box seats”. Check out this lineup congregated in this section: Doug Winter, Desert Moon, Paradime Coins, USA Rare Coin, Eye Appealing Coins, Peak Rarities, Northern Nevada Coin, DJF Coin, David Kahn, Gerry Fortin & finally, my two dealer/collector coin pals, Eric Lindholm & Justin Peake. It was impossible to visit this section & not leave without a coin or two (or much more).
At a big show like this, aside from the vast inventory to choose from, are two highlights. One is reacquainting again with old friends & dealers. Two is meeting new ones, especially board members. At WFOM, I found myself getting immersed in the “legend & reality” of what it means to be a “bust nut”. Of course, that including meeting a few of this illustrious cadre in person for the first time. I met & briefly chatted with Paul (@pneis20) at our hotel (the Drury - highly recommend)! At the show, I met Dr Dave (@drddm). “No need for the Dr, Ken, Dave is just fine”. 😆. I had bought a couple CBH’s through out BST here & we decided to exchange @ the show so we could also meet. One of these is today’s featured coin. Dave’s a very affable guy & has a great eye per my experience & kudos from his fellow bust nuts.
But, for me, the highlight was finally meeting Todd Madison in person (@pursuitofliberty). Todd & I had made what turned out to be a futile “chasing our tails” attempt at this past winter FUN. We have conversed on the boards with a good amount of frequency, even mixing in a few PM’s. I’ll say here, as enjoyable as Todd’s posts are here, he’s +++ beyond that in person. Someone I certainly hope to hookup again with @ future shows & maybe beyond. Thanks for all, Todd (& my missus agrees).

I was wrong. The 2025 Edition of the BHNC Die State Study does show the 104.4. My apologies for any confussion.
And yes Phil, the coin does have a green bean. Those flashy emerald earrings are so nice sometimes. Maybe you should get Barb a pair!
