Curious what you paid for the coin?
The coin was in a 1938 proof set EBay purchase for a modest price given the high quality of the five coins.
Extra photos.
Nice looking images of an attractive coin. Good luck with the submission.

Very nice coin and you always do well @SanctionII but why is it a cherrypick?
It is possible that the coin has enough frost on the sun to warrant a cameo designation. Good luck!

My definition of a cherrypick is a coin that has features which set it apart from a normal example of the particular coin (i.e. a variety, a rainbow toner, a Cameo) that you are able to acquire at the price of a normal example of the same coin.
The 1938 half has mirrored fields, frosted devices (including the sun and the sun's rays) and may warrant a Cameo designation.
It thus is a cherrypick IMO, in fact the entire proof set is a cherry pick as all five coins are gorgeous.
I might quibble with the terminology, but it is definitely a “Score!”
Is this from the one that was listed at $2k OBO?

Also with the reverse of '40 nickel

No, it was not listed at $2K OBO.
I will have to look at the nickel to see what reverse it has.
The newly acquired 1938 half bears a resemblance to this one.
I would have to know what you paid to know if this was actually a good deal or not…Looks like a decent coin.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I looked at the nickel. It has the Reverse of 1938 steps. Coinfacts shows that Reverse of1940 steps is present on 1939 and 1940 nickels
Kevin, if I was you I’d tell members it’s none of their damn business what you paid for the set. As a matter of fact, it’s in quite poor taste to even ask and attests to their character. Rant over.
Based on the provided images I’d say PR67 non-Cameo.

@Maywood You are correct that it’s none of our business what he paid for the coin unless he tells us it was a “Cherry-pick” in which case it is relevant to help us determine if the coin qualifies as such…
It’s a beautiful coin, and definitely a nice cherry pick. The contrasts are nice, but I don’t think strong enough for a cameo designation. Grading proof coins from an image is a folly, but I’ll guess PF66.
Images can be misleading. Are the contrasts in the coin in the OP as strong as this coin in hand? The second coin should be in a designated holder.
This summer I have also acquired proof Walkers for dated 1937, 1939 and 1942. at local shows. All were contained in proof sets contained in Capital and Whitman holders.
Here is the 1937.
Here is the 1939.
Here is the 1942.
I would be very happy for you if you graded with a cameo!
I really like your WLH.
Makes me want to buy a proof!

Being the one within "members" who asked anything with a "$" in my post I have to assume that this comment was directed at me. "Is this from the one that was listed at $2k OBO?" Is not the same as asking "what did you pay for this?" The reason I asked that specifically is because there was a set a couple months ago that looked very nice that was listed at that price that I made an offer on but did not win. So I was curious if this was from that set. For a brief moment I was excited that another forum member may have gotten it.
Many members here, and I would think you are included in that, can attest to my character.
Anyway, all that being said, I had a brain-fart above and was actually remembering a 1939 set. Obviously a 1938 set could not have a reverse of 1940 nickel. Sorry for any confusion here, that's what I get for making quick posts from work.

To follow up.
What the purchase price is of the proof set containing the 1938 half is no one's business. All 5 coins in the set are gorgeous, with the half being a possible Cameo and with the nickel being a two sided rainbow toner. The purchase of the set is IMO a cherrypick.
The photos I posted of a second 1938 proof Walker are poor quality cell phone photos of Skyman's NGC PF66CAM. Last month he and I got together and I saw his half again. When my newly acquired 1938 proof set arrived and I looked at the half (after a bath to remove light haze) I was surprised to see how similar they are. The frost on both coins is heavy, including on the sun and the sun's rays. The fields on both coins are mirrored, though I think the fields on Skyman's half are better. After my half is graded he and I are going to get together and compare them.
My 1937 half is similar to the 1938. It has heavily frosted devices and mirrored fields. The buffalo nickel in that set is a two sided rainbow toner.
I have picked up, since early June, seven older raw proof sets (37, 38, 39, 42, 51, 52 and 53) containing some fantastic coins. After they are graded I will post a thread about them.
So far 2026 has been a great year for me in the hobby.
