Curious what you paid for the coin?
The coin was in a 1938 proof set EBay purchase for a modest price given the high quality of the five coins.

My definition of a cherrypick is a coin that has features which set it apart from a normal example of the particular coin (i.e. a variety, a rainbow toner, a Cameo) that you are able to acquire at the price of a normal example of the same coin.
The 1938 half has mirrored fields, frosted devices (including the sun and the sun's rays) and may warrant a Cameo designation.
It thus is a cherrypick IMO, in fact the entire proof set is a cherry pick as all five coins are gorgeous.
I might quibble with the terminology, but it is definitely a “Score!”

The newly acquired 1938 half bears a resemblance to this one.
I would have to know what you paid to know if this was actually a good deal or not…Looks like a decent coin.

I looked at the nickel. It has the Reverse of 1938 steps. Coinfacts shows that Reverse of1940 steps is present on 1939 and 1940 nickels
Kevin, if I was you I’d tell members it’s none of their damn business what you paid for the set. As a matter of fact, it’s in quite poor taste to even ask and attests to their character. Rant over.

@Maywood You are correct that it’s none of our business what he paid for the coin unless he tells us it was a “Cherry-pick” in which case it is relevant to help us determine if the coin qualifies as such…
It’s a beautiful coin, and definitely a nice cherry pick. The contrasts are nice, but I don’t think strong enough for a cameo designation. Grading proof coins from an image is a folly, but I’ll guess PF66.
Images can be misleading. Are the contrasts in the coin in the OP as strong as this coin in hand? The second coin should be in a designated holder.
This summer I have also acquired proof Walkers for dated 1937, 1939 and 1942. at local shows. All were contained in proof sets contained in Capital and Whitman holders.
