I am shocked by the weakness of the eagle's breast. What is up with that?

My guess is that the detail on the eagle’s breast is fine but that there’s a scuff on the holder in that area.

MS65 is my guess, always a bit tough with pictures. Likely a 5+ today from the looks of it.

Impossible to tell with these photos, since so much of the grade of a mint state Morgan is determining how much there is in the way of contact marks on the obverse, and this photo doesn't work for that.

I suspect it is mint state, but it could be anywhere from AU58 up to MS66 (and anywhere in between).

What do you think the first G in GTG stands for?

Need a luster shot. Photos make the lust look a bit muted. Based on that I will say 64.

The 1903 Morgan is a well above product out of the Philly Mint with a decent surviving population in MS65 and higher grades. Although PL to DMPL are tough, there are some attractively toned examples. I see this one as 64 as I am unable to opine higher without seeing in hand.

Hard to see (solely based on pictures OP shared) how this wouldn't be a prime CAC candidate. OGH + CAC (of any color) = collector paradise B)

Late to the game but would have guessed 65. Given it’s an an old holder would consider Reconsideration with PCGS before trying fir the sticker?

I thought about that but who knows maybe it could gold sticker. Either way I think its worth more in the OGH with a CAC sticker.
The gold shield holders are my favorite.
I just submitted 8 coins to pcgs. They will come back in gold shield holders.

@Morgan13 So you estimate it is worth more as an PCGS MS64 w/ CAC sticker in the OGH than a PCGS MS65 in a new 2026 slab? I am a mere amateur collector ... but if that is true it's certainly odd IMO!

Nice gem Morgan, and stable white in the old holder. CAC sticker try and even if no pass, leave her be.

    Send to CAC.
Pass or not (should at minimum get a green) keep it in this holder regardless.
