Interesting that that one is graded SP67 and SMS, whereas mine is MS67 and SMS. I’ve always assumed mine is just a description error on the slab.

I noticed that discrepancy when I wondered why yours had the MS- instead of SP- prefix with the SMS designation.

I have some of my birthyear set that are in older PCGS SMS holders that are graded MS Cameo and more recent ones which are SP Cameo. Not sure when the transition happened.

Here is a WW1 “trench art” love token engraved on a 1918 French 2-franc piece.
The engraving reads:
“Souvenir [of] France [for] Miss Vesta McCurry, Hartwell, Ga"
The engraving was commissioned by Howard G. Pearman (1892-1958), a sergeant with Company F of the US 21st Infantry, 3rd Division in World War I, as a souvenir for his sweetheart Vesta McCurry (1892-1973), back home in Georgia.
This is what Vesta McCurry looked like, circa 1918.
Howard survived the war and he and Vesta were married on Christmas Day in 1919. They were together for more than 38 years until his death in 1958.
Here are Howard and Vesta, later in life.
I was able to trace Howard and Vesta’s granddaughter, Nancy Ferrazuolo, and return the coin to her in 2019. It was a fun quest.
1918 or France, next- or any love token or trench art piece with a readable date on the host coin.
