I wanted to take a moment to shout out all who helped me in pursuing my goal of an all-toned everyman Peace Dollar Registry set. This set has been a passion of mine for a very long time and there are many shoe-burner coins present. 20% of these coins originated from forum members. I am so glad we have the community we do and have made many friendships along the way.
If you have a 1927-D that can hang or something that visually beats what i've got, chances are I'll pay moon money for it! Let me know!

For this set - CAC approval, 9 coins need restickered, 15 reviewed. Id like to get the set featured on a popular coin Youtube channel and everyone could see them in motion!
I also just completed a Paramount Redfield holder Peace Dollar set. 6/8 are in queue to be graded by NGC. I still need to upgrade 2 black holders to red but all in all, very intact and complete.
I have a similar Morgan set to this Peace set that lacks 4 coins but I'm not in a hurry on it.
I've gotten the bug for Seated stuff recently. Maybe an all-toned seated type set?

If PCGS would allow MS64+ coins in the Everyman Mint State registry, I have many 64+'s to build a higher-end version of this set as well. Still to be determined; I've been in contact with the registry folks to allow MS64+ coins.

Sets like this don't grow on trees and certainly don't come along often. It would be pleasurable reading if you
would share some of your tales of triumphs and woes.
Congratulations! I'm working on the same set (on another registry), but I'm going for mostly white. I've been improving it for the last couple of years, and I'm having a blast making it as nice as possible.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
The most difficult thing for me when assembling a set is the amount of time that passes between suitable candidates. Toned Peace dollars are hard generally and finding them with pleasing aesthetic toning is even harder. Building a set full of +'s requires buying many of the same date and mint mark and a great deal of being dissapointed when a coin doesn't cross, +, or even sometimes upgrades when crossing! Another hurdle was keeping the collection intact through a divorce. I definitely don't recommend!
Even though there are 24 coins in the set, many more were bought to make the grade. I always had candidates out for grading or on hand to be graded. To find the perfect coins, the average (made) was 3 per year, it was probably more in the first two years.
I sourced the set through the BST forum, eBay, GC, heritage, stacks, and many many local and national coin shows. A lot originated in other services holders and had to be crossed.
Many triumphs and woes exist. Finding a perfect coin already +'d and stickered is God-tier. I think I only had that pleasure twice. I stressed a great deal about the key dates. In my mind, I relegated them all (21, 28, and 34-s) to all of them probably having been dipped out during the blast white craze. Lo and behold, the right candidates showed up at the right time. I only had to buy 1 (1921), 1 (1934-S), and 4 (1928). Perhaps one of the most rewarding things is putting together a set that looks cohesive and could have been in the same collector album for decades. I have many toned peace dollars outside of the AU58+ range and, for me, Wayte Raymond toning is far and away the finest toning for business strike coins. I enjoy it so much I also collect low-ball WR toned mercury dimes and have recently started a Wayte Raymond toned Standing Liberty Quarter date set. It can be pleasurable even if coins don't straight grade but they look like they came from the same album.
I enjoy toned Peace dollars to a very high degree, I have aspirations of writing a book or publication about the issue in the future.

That is an outstanding achievement. Such a beautiful set of coins. Will probably be the nicest set of Everyman Peace Dollars ever assembled. This particular Everyman type of set I have some experience with. I was fortunate enough to achieve the very first Best of Registry set back in 2010 for the Peace dollars.
However, I never came close to your achievement in "+" numbers (had 1) and the toners are above and beyond. I can empathize the amount of effort it took to find, cross, (I remember being disappointed when a coin crossed in a higher grade as well!).
Again, outstanding job and I salute you on your goal being met!

I’m not even sure AI would dare to come up with a more insanely awesome gathering of Peace dollars.
That's hilarious and completely unintentional... I do have a couple of coins with some rim toning though... My rule is that I just have to like the way it looks. I've had to replace so many that have failed that simple test.

No kidding. I'm building my set to eventually be all CACG, and AU58+ grades in CACG slabs are practically unobtanium, and I currently only have one.
