    I wouldn't spend anywhere near that much for the coin, but everybody has different interests. If the buyer's happy, that's all that matters.

    Rather obscene and wonderful as usual if that grade would be the same on another submission. I was glad to get a 1998 Lib in 69 earlier this year along with a 1997 in like grade - I handpicked these from rolls and note they were flawless. I still have two ‘99s that I picked in the same manner I’ll submit next Whitman.
    69 vs 70 is a fool’s game IMHO although I admit a 69 is perhaps easier to separate from a ‘68. I wonder if the buyer could separate this coin in the raw from 69s?

    Well, the 1998 has always been considered very scarce. Not 40K scarce IMO, but to each his own.

    I spent $36k on this, but it is genuinely rare (and a pattern).

    LOL summer has been hard. Started with a bad tax season, followed by a lot of work hours, and some other engagements... Little time for coins.

    Sorry to hear that. But when you earn the big bucks, big taxes are the inevitable result. >:)

    That’s ridiculous! I would have bought an original roll of 85’s, a new car, go out for an awesome steak dinner and still have money left over. Congrats to the seller!

    As per my earlier comment - I challenge the graders, either at the TPGs or individuals to reliably separate on a regular basis MS69 from MS 70 coins. This type of spending borders on the obscene (and that is putting it nicely).

    Even 68 vs 69. I’ve seen 68s that were literally perfect and 69s with issues. The whole thing (68-70 grading) is a casino.
