3 time winner of PCGS First Discovery W quarter contests and I found hundreds of each W quarter release.

The W quarters are the reason I started collecting. Joined PCGS and this forum back in 2019 and enjoy most of the members on here.

Happy to help anyone with questions about W quarters and their history. Feel free to send me a PM or post a question on this thread.

Stopped CRH around the time of this thread because any W quarters found in circulation at this point are so damaged it depresses me.

As a side note, the US Mint did produce W pennies and W nickels but those were only available to buy direct from the Mint as they were never released for circulation.

Hope others will join me in this discussion.

There's not much more to talk about with these W Quarters. It's pretty much all been discussed. What did you do with all those W quarters?

You are the one who resurrected this 3 year old thread.

Have you found any W quarters? What did you do with them?

Please explain why you want others to post about W quarters if you feel there is nothing else to discuss about them.

Yes, I resurrected this thread for updates and any additional feedback now that the hype is over.

I didn't say "nothing" else, I said "not much" else.

Have I found any W quarters?... Yes, a lot!

What did I do with them?... I sold them by the rolls, 40 W in a roll. I was getting 5, 6 and 7 hundred dollar a roll. I funded all my key dates with it.

Does that explain it for you?

Good to read from all you guys from back then. Brings back so many good memories. Esp, in reading from the posts where friends are no longer with us
    Namely, Ole
    "RickO"
    😒
    Miss him.
I remember when reading here, that RickO, had the most terrible luck hunting any "W" Quarters down.
    So, I sent him one!
πŸ˜† He was so ecstatic when I let him know!
    Just like a little kid!
Like all our reactions when we find that special joy pulling any winner coin!

RickO had requested one of my Broncos coins a while back and I included a W for him too. He was so appreciative of it, it was wonderful

I'm up to about a couple hundred W's now

Got a couple of my early W finds graded and still have them.

And the W's are still selling like hotcakes on ebay in all conditions https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=W+quarter&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1

Here are two I found this week in a Loomis box last weekend...Some of them are getting a bit rough lol...

During the COVID lockdown, I went through 60 rolls of quarters; not one W quarter to be found.

Methinks they didn't spread them around evenly; I live in the 15th largest metropolitan area in the country (by population), and I have never seen one (including in those 60 rolls), while some people have seen many.

No. You miscalculated. The odds were against you. There were only enough made for one coin in 600 rolls so you would be expected to fail. Your odds would have far better if you had searched BU rolls but still you would need to get a few rolls from numerous sources to be sure.

Some people were intercepting the coins before they got to circulation. Because the distribution was poor about half of production was able to be intercepted before circulation. I predicted I'd find one every other year based on the rate I check circulation ands the number intercepted. Looks like I was very close. Keep watching. i expect finds for years yet though people are starting to watch their quarters and W mints will be some of the first to go. I can't predict how much increase in checking will be.

I'm just south of Chicago. The Chicago FED hasn't received its share of new coin since the early '70's or so. The allotment is based on how many are needed and some districts reuse old coin more or need new coin less. I believe Pittsburg has actually exported quarters for many years. Arizona and the SW seem to get a lot of new coin.

Once distributed coins begin a random walk and by the time they are down to AU they can get here from Detroit, Indianapolis, or even Ohio. It takes 25 years now days for quarters to get evenly distributed and by that time they are heavily worn.

Unless someone here is an insider or has ties to an insider, ie; the fed, the mint, Loomis, Brinks, bank employees etc... Forget it, it's all speculation. Like when the W quarters were released back in 2019 and 2020.

I'm referring to the new 2026 privy quarters here though, same thing.

Remember, we never know until we try, I was that way back in late 2019. I knew and heard about the W quarters but never thought I had a chance of finding one. I was wrong. Just on a whim one day I asked a teller for 5 rolls of quarters. Got them home and a hand full of W's fell out. I was just in the right place at the right time.

    Thanks for the info.
However, back when the Westpoint Quarters first came out. Even though I live in Chicago, I was overwhelmed on how many I was able to hunt down. Nearly 300+
So, why not for the New Privy Quarters too?

I don't believe @WQuarterFreddie has any insider position and he found nearly 1000 W quarters, if I recall correctly.

I used to live 5 minutes away from the West Point mint and it still took me a while to find one! I found my first (and still only) CRH June 2024 in one of the quarter rolls I got at a bank in Highland Falls.
