Not sure its gambling as much as giving value away. If you have a great card sell it at a premium, why give Brentsy a portion of your sale? Look at Greg Morris for an example, he is selling raw cards for, in many cases, more than what a psa + mba sticker would yield.
This hobby is so ridiculous , absolutely stacked with charlatans. The best cards have always gotten the best prices.
Now, if you have a card that isn’t the best, maybe trimmed or altered, a service like Brent and Mike offers is perfect. This is their wheelhouse.

dont worry, it will come crashing down. things always do eventually when they are owned/operated by grifters. it may not be next week or next month, but both mike and brent have a track record and we know their character. that will always shine through.
both mike and brent have built businesses that crashed and burned. it WILL happen with MBA and the stickers. just a matter of time.

and truthfully, i believe that some of them actually know they have been fooled, but they are in so deep monetarily that they have to suspend disbelief in order to keep the cognitive dissonance from driving them crazy
LOL all you want, but I think that deep down you know MBA and the sticker thing will come crashing down. bad actors always regress to the mean.
The MBA slabs most certainly will maintain a foul stink after they are are out of biz just as it is with GAI, but as for the stickers simply remove them or not

In the coin world people have been using CAC (Certified Acceptance Corporation) for years and it remains a major player in the hobby. If you got the gold or green sticker the realized price went up dramatically.

I’d need to see same card sold, at least exact same quality of card sold, back to back, sticker vs no sticker to believe the sticker as opposed to the quality of the card is driving the additional sale value. I think the scheme is based on recognizing that great cards for the grade sell for more than poor cards, and sellers/submitters attributing the increase to the sticker.
As someone above posted, if MBA is final word on grading why not just grade with them? And please don’t tell me they sticker their own slabs…..
Based on what I have seen in Chicago this week at the National card values with silver and gold stickers are seeing strong sales, and demand for cards with the stickers(especially gold) are moving quickly. There are various opinions about MBA, but for resale and value cards with their labels are experiencing strong sales. I know that a pair of 1956 Mantles sold yesterday both with silver MBA labels in PSA 7.5 and PSA 8.5 for $18.5k and $110k respectively shattering any previous sales for these cards - highest VCP sale for an 8.5 prior was around $56k.
I would rather have my card sell for less than give money to someone I feel hurt collectors, the hobby, and is responsible for some cards in my collection that every time I look at them I suspect they are trimmed because they came from PWCC. It is sad that we hold nobody accountable for taking advantage of fellow collectors in this hobby. I won’t comment anymore on it. My personal thought is the half grades are already stickers applied by PSA and SGC. I do plan to take the other side of the coin when I negotiate with a dealer with a lot of sticker cards. Obviously this isn’t high for the grade or you would have a sticker on it so let’s work DOWN from VCP average with the average being the ceiling on this average or lower card.
The two 8.5s, were they equally nice cards that sold same time period through reputable sellers? If so than I’d agree the sticker was responsible for the bump.
Edit - just looked at the copy that sold in 2025 for 56k, IMO a weak copy with 2 touched corners and some toning issues. I’m guessing it would grade at least a grade lower today.

At blowout and net54 there is more legit debate. Here we have 4-5 members, some of who have fiscal based interest, who swarm and shout dissenters down

High stakes gambling y'all. No different than rolling dice or betting on ponies.

So why not just grade with MBA if the sticker gets the best price? Skip PSA and just use MBA. No brainier.

When CAC (Certified Acceptance Corporation) first started it was only stickers but they eventually added in coin grading.

Will they sticker the sticker? Good question. I guess they could review it for a gold bump.
Based on what I've seen they need remedial lessons on how to apply a sticker on strait
