I picked this up last month in the Heritage error coin auction, so no peeking if you want to GTG. It is in an older ANACS "soapbox" holder, of the vintage that might have contributed to the beautiful toning. This may be the same example a friend owned in the 2000s and eventually sold to late forum member Broadstruck. It is weird to think there are two of them around if not.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals.     When I viewed the obverse image, I was thinking at least MS62, maybe MS63. But once I saw the reverse, I couldn’t get past MS62.

    Clipped classic commems are way more common than you would expect. They are most frequently seen on Stone Mountain, Alabama, and BTW/GWC halves. The planchets for the Alabama issue in particular were poorly made, I've seen many with small fissures or ragged rim clips. I have maybe a dozen different issues in my collection, the four in my type album are the Bay Bridge, California, Maine, and Alabama.
