The ATS number for the Mercury gold Best of the Mint dime showed up this morning.
"ats": 20000,
Is that enough? Too many?

Actually not that bad for a lower cost gold option, i thought it would be higher
Worth keeping an eye on if you're interested in trying to get one. I'm sure that number will change a bit before June 4.
I'm not seeing any mention of mintage on the Mint's Website, just a household limit of 1 with no indication of quantities.
This is the ATS number currently. Not a stated mintage or HHL. It just appeared today within the coding for the listing page
We know now that the mintage limit is set at 30,000 and the current ATS number is 20,000. I think the Mint is leaving room for everyone's favorite status "BACKORDER" after the initial 20,000 are gone. Do you think this is enough to satisfy demand? The 2016 Gold Merc dime was 125,000.
Item Number: 26BM1
Item Limits
Mintage Limit: 30,000
Product Limit: None
Household Order Limit: 1
What are y'all thinking for the price of the set, around $800?
The Mint's pricing guide shows $805-$810 so that's about right.
5000 available to the big boys at $861.
(That’s $820 before the mark-up).
The ATS is 20,000 as of this morning, so this accounts for 25,000 of them.
This isn't accurate. The 5,000 will move over to the Bulk listing tomorrow and the ATS here should fall to 15,000.
My guess there'll only be 20,000 of these. No backorder either.
I'll go with what you say on the no increase, but that would take the Mint off it's "let's make more!' 2026 business model. I'm banking on you to be right!
Like the 2016 version, this 2026 version is a (more) diminutive 16.50mm vs. the original’s 17.91.
I’d like it a whole lot more if they stuck to the original size.
On the contrary, Google is not your friend.
too many for it to be hot
Really? 20-30K for a one-off that includes 1/10 ounce of gold and a one ounce silver medal, and is priced under $1,000? I respectfully disagree. I think it is going to be VERY hot, given how many 1/10 ounce gold Mercury dimes were sold the last time, albeit at far lower prices.
Is this a pre-production mistake?

That is, I thought the Mint always included the weight & purity on gold coins -- like the others currently on the Mint website: https://www.usmint.gov/coins/precious-metal-coins/gold/?start=0&sz=22
Successful BST transactions with forum members thebigeng, SPalladino, Zoidmeister, jacrispies, coin22lover, coinsarefun, jwitten, CommemKing.
The BOM Gold quarter & Half are the same, denomination only.
I think the Mint has discretion on these since there's no legislation involved?
Edit: I think that the 2025 1/2 oz Gold Sacagawea was similar, no purity noted on the coin. Just a denom of $1 out back.
30,000 mintage limit now....
Big difference between $150 and $1000. I think it'll sell out. I don't know that it'll be a winner.

With gold at the levels we now see ($4500-$5000), there will be a segment of collectors that will want to have a "America 250" privy'd gold coin - this is entry level at $800-$900. You will see alot of interest.
You nailed it! ATS dropped to 15,000 this morning.
And the big boys grabbed about 4,000 - that ATS down to 1049.
So with the craziness of the 1 ounce uncirculated gold coin this morning, do we think this will still be hot or not?
At about 15% of the cost, and with some people looking to buy the set and sell off the gold, I think the Mercury Dime Set will sell out instantly, regardless of what happened this morning.
I'm with you on this, as I believe there is a whole group of collectors who just want one of the BOM set and this will be the most affordable. Looking like $795-$810 with a week to go!
Totally agree. I also think the USM should have done these in a different order, as at least for me, if I miss out on this one, my interest in the others drops.
What order? They are going to try to build momentum by starting with the least expensive set, and working their way up. As they should.
Because interest will naturally wane anyway when the price increases. So there is no reason to do them randomly, or to start with the most expensive and work their way back.
You'll also see mintages decrease as price increases and interest wanes. An attempt to make sure they all stay hot.
Interesting times ahead with this series. There’s a subset of collectors who only want the dime and feel priced out of the rest. Another set who only want the 1804 gold Oz. Perhaps the smallest group of all are the ones who want it all.
I think they’ve chosen the right order to try to build some momentum for the program. I hope it’s a success and I hope they stick with their announced limits.
I'm with you on this.
I think people are also underestimating the draw of the silver medal that you can't get any other way also.
I'm in. Anyone else? I guess I'll get sucked in for the whole series. I do like the silver medals.
I'm in. The question is if I'll be in the first round of shipments or not. With a product limit of 30,000, sales figures of 4,273 sold as of 5/25/26, a suspiciously round ATS of 15,000, and the mint's track record with this year's other releases... I think these will be backordered fairly quickly after release.

Why is it suspicious that they struck an even 15,000? It would be stranger if they had struck 14,472

When do the big boys ATS get cut off and returned to inventory for the rest of us?
20,000 of these minted. 5,000 to ABPP (all sold - a couple of buyers waited until end of ABPP window and that will get updated on this week's report).
15,000 avail day one for us folks. Anyone's guess if the mint ever makes the 'other' 10,000. I'm going with no.
Much appreciated! I believe they won’t Mint the final 10,000, but it IS the “Year of the Backorder”, so anything is possible.
As a side note for other products, what would the return to inventory timeframe be if they had not sold out?
It's suspicious because the majority of releases have went into backorder right after release. I've had minute 1 orders "processing" over a weekend only to end up "backordered" on the following Monday. The ATS isn't what's truly available.
We just saw that with the 2 roll half on May 26. Approximately 18,000 were sold before the “backorder” note went up with each order. Those backorders are expected sometime in September? Same as the dime bags and a couple quarter roll orders
Exactly. This happened to me with the Rev War quarter rolls and a dime bag. I finally got the quarter rolls, but I'm still waiting on that dime bag that was ordered with a roll set (received) in the first minute of release. We also saw the backorder happen with the gold buffalos, it was a short backorder as they're available as of this past Thursday. The half bags are on backorder as well, yet they were all "available" on initial release.
I think I have one set of Rev War rolls on a backorder which was (I think) promised for September. It doesn’t say specifically when. In the age of instant gratification, backorders are frustrating, yet at least somewhat comforting that you’ll get them. However, I think the Mint reserves the right to say “nah….nevermind” at a later date.
The ATS are what's available to buy. Whether they are ready to ship or not is another matter. That's hardly "suspicious ". They are likely in the perishing queue.

If the backorder is a 4 month wait, then they are not available to buy. That becomes a preorder situation, which is what the mint should do with all their products anyway. That would eliminate the mad rush on release day, waiting room woes, and provide ample time to weed out and cancel bot orders.
The buyers are sending out the e-mails to the masses.
This Mercury Dime set is now OFFICIALLY HOT!
Time to edit the scripts, double-check with the credit card companies on high-value purchases incoming, mailing addresses double checked, etc...

I’m under their radar…. What are they offering to those who won’t hold?
I'm going to hold off mentioning a price right now - as I don't want to give away what the going rate is starting at. Let's just say, I'm not as impressed as I am with what was offered ($250) on the recent 1oz Gold coin last week.

I saw the presales on this were in the high $1300's and low $1400's to lead off, so $250 would be fair ONLY if you had no secondary market access of your own.
No. You are confused. They are "available to buy" because they allow people to buy them. As distinguished from "available to ship."
I'm afraid I'm going to have to continue my recent love fest with @jmlanzaf here, because he is 1,000,000% correct.
ATS tells they system what it can sell. Which is literally what is available to buy.
Not what is in the warehouse. You are not even supposed to see it.

Who cares, the thrill of the waiting room is almost too good.
Some of my best times have been spent in the waiting room. 🤪
I would like to sell you guys some ocean front property in Arizona.
